Too much Battlestar Galacitica influence if you ask me.

Battlestar Galactica had stuff blowing up on a regular basis. Also, the Colonials in BSG had the Cylons as an enemy seeking to destroy humanity and this was a cause for alot of the conflict and action in the series. In SGU, an enemy is sorely missing. At the rate they are going, what little ammo they have will last for centuries.

Last week, I only paid scant attention to SGU and had it on as background noise with an occassional glance at it while I played Halo. Stuff better start getting broken and blowing up or I'll just watch something else.

I gave up on SGU about 3 episodes ago.

I was only comparing it to BSG-GINO in the production work. Dark lighting & the dark side of humaity, shaky handy cams, and the like. Now I could understand the darkness up until they flew into a sun's corona to recharge the reactors, you'd expect lighting to be working now.

I don't need weekly mayhem and enemies at the gate; I do enjoy the subtleties of the position they find themselves in, and character development they seem to be front loading.

The twist of the communication stones has possibilities, but I feel they're using it too much. Still, given the position they're in, using such a capability early on would be a natural course.

All said, yea, I'd like to see them gain more control over their vessel, and be able to chart their own course. Although it seems like the ship is learning about them as they learn about it, and it gives them as much as it thinks they can handle, and maybe knows what they need more than they do. That makes it tedious from a purely entertainment point of view, but not necessarily from a story telling point of view.

Still, they're going to have to liven things up a bit or they'll lose the instant gratification crowd, if they haven't done so already.
