Interesting dichotomy isn't it.

Here we have Christ, the Son of God and the Son of Man taken away like a lamb to slaughter yet all mankind would be forgiven for the act.

The we have the goin’ down a blazzin’ “martyr” Smith for whom in the eyes of the LDS the entirety of mankind is held accountable for his death.

Funny that the “servant” and “prophet” of their god gets more respect than Christ himself.

The level of deception needed to become involved in that group is astounding.

I can see for someone who was raised in it and doesn’t know any better, but for someone to turn their backs on God and say Jesus isn’t good enough, just plain boggles the mind.

- - - - - - - - - - -

I was a convert to the LDS. And there were several factors in my life that lead me to the LDS.

First, I was only a “nominal Christian”. I thought I was a Christian but I did not have a relationship with Jesus. I had a “head” knowelege but not a “heart” one. I believe this is the case with almost ALL LDS converts.

Second, I didn’t know my Bible. I fell for their out of context scriptural “proofs”. I didn’t know enough to see the BOM was plagiarized. It sounded close enough to the Bible, that it “felt” authentic.

Third, I had a complicated family life. The LDS, from the outside, seemed so stable and family oriented. Only after I became a member did I see that appearance is far more often than not, a cover for outsiders to make the LDS look appealing.

Fourth, I was lied into the LDS church. When an “investigator” is first learning about the LDS they only tell you the tiniest portion of what they believe. Just enough to hook you. They get you to rely on your “feelings” rather than think things through and reasearch. They tell you everyone who has left or speaks out about the LDS are evil and of Satan.

Once you get in you are slowly given additional doctrine and told things, often with “proof” from their scriptures or teaching of the prophets. This giving of “milk” before “meat”, gets a person hooked into the social life of the church before they begin to find out what the church really believes. The brainwashing is slow and careful. You don’t realize it until you have left or are leaving.

Leaving is tough too. You are suddenly reviled, considered an “anti-Christ”. Your friends, and often family, no longer speak to you, you can lose your job and even your cultural identity. It is a painful process. Add to that the feeling of being “stupid” for falling for the LDS lies, there is a recovery process.

For many years, I used to beat myself up over joining the LDS. Then one day, I was praying about it and realized that God used the LDS Church (not that it was His will I join) to break me, to make me see that I couldn’t save myself, to humble me, and to bring me into a very real, very personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

So in a way, my journey into Mormonism, is part of my path to becoming a Christian.

That Adam is the mormon god is Michael doctrine of Brigham Young’s..

“We Believe in Our God”,

We believe in our God the great Prince of His race,
The Archangel Michael, the Ancient of Days,
Our own Father Adam, earth’s Lord, as is plain,
Who’ll counsel and fight for his children again.
We believe in His Son, Jesus Christ...” (Sacred Hymns and Spiritual Songs for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints p. 375) (Liverpool, 1856).

“Sons of Michael”,

Sons of Michael, he approaches!
Rise; the Eternal Father greet:
Bow, ye thousands, low before him;
Minister before his feet:
Hail the Patriarch’s glad reign,
‘Stablished now o’er sea and main!
Sons of Michael, ‘tis his chariot
Rolls its burning wheels along!
Raise aloft your voices million
In a torrent power of song:
Hail our Head with music soft!
Raise sweet melodies aloft!
Mother of our generations!
Glorious by Great Michael’s side;
Take thy children’s adoration;
Endless with thy Lord preside:
Lo, to greet thee now advance
Thousands in the joyous dance!
Raise a chorus, sons of Michael,
Like old Ocean’s roaring swell,
Till the mighty acclamation
Through rebounding space doth tell
That the Ancient One doth reign
In his Paradise again!
(Millennial Star 23:15 (13 April 1861, p240))[26]

This hymn is still included in the current LDS hymnal(Sons of Michael, He Approaches; hymn 51), but its wording has been altered from the original.

the 1948 hymnal, hymn 163:

Sons of Michael, he approaches! Rise, the ancient Father greet;
Bow ye thousands, low before him; Minister before his feet;
Hail, hail the Patriarch’s glad reign, Hail, hail the Patriarch’s glad reign
Spreading over sea and main.

Sons of Michael, ‘tis his chariot Rolls its burning wheels along!
Raise aloft your voices million In a torrent power of song;
Hail, hail our Head with music soft! Hail, hail our Head with music soft!
Raise week melodies aloft!

Mother of our generations, Glorious by Great Michael’s side,
Take thy children’s adoration; Endless with thy Lord preside;
Lo, lo, to greet thee now advance, Lo, lo, to greet thee now advance
Thousands in the glorious dance!

Raise a chorus, sons of Michael, Like old Ocean’s roaring swell,
Till the mighty acclamation Through rebounding space doth tell
That, that the Ancient One doth reign, That, that the Ancient One may reign
In his Paradise again!

I am laying odds that to survive there will be a series of “Visions” and “Revelations” that will take them away from the Smith/Young/etc. ideas and bring them at least closer in line with the True Faith. There is too much money at stake to do otherwise.

How close remains to be scene, there is a lot of history and fantasy to be dismissed first, starting with the BOM.

- - - - - - -
I agree. They are already distancing themselves from certain doctrines, claiming others were false doctrines (adam/god), and flat out lying about others (”as man is God once was, as God is man may become”).

The younger generation mostly don’t know what their parents/grandparents were taught. And the LDS have short memories, they just parrot whatever the current admin states. There is VERY little thinking in Mormonism.

Please correct me if I’m wrong on this, but there is a component that you touched upon (brainwashing) that should be expanded further. That is peer-pressure and the push to “have a testimony” This process acts to ‘cement’ these falsehoods into ‘truth’ by convincing yourself not to think about it but accept it (or else). Again (correct if wrong), I understand that during weekly testimony meetings it is almost robotic - Joseph smith is true prophet, bom is the word of god, lds is the restored church, etc - except that 99% of the time Jesus isn’t even mentioned.

So many quotes here - instant classics from Joe Smith, Bring'em and other dramatic ignoramouses.

Astounding.

Cult rhetoric at its finest.

And mormons wonder why they will never be considered "Christian"? Sure. LOL.

Methinks that he keeps repeating that to convince himself more than us, because we certainly don’t believe it.

WHY do you people CONTINUE to play with the TarBaby?

What reason did Clinton have to "hate the mormons"?

First off I'm not a Mormon, never have been, no plans to become one. But if the answer to that one isn't obvious you've been asleep at the wheel for a long time. The whole Mormon way of life is antithetical to the way Clintonistas and leftists want middle class people to live and think. The church serves as a support group for middle class people wanting to have more than two children and also as a countervailing force against the federal government in a region in which 80% of the land is owned by BLAM.

Would YOU care to take a stab at them?

I have looked at your 'questions' and my spirit concludes that you are insincere.

When your heart gets right and really WANTS to know the answers; then perhaps we can communicate.

“The whole Mormon way of life is antithetical to the way” Christians are suppose to live and think...

Joey Smith rejected the Jesus of the Bible and Christianity and made up his own religion...

Anything clean and good he tossed out...

Anything evil and corrupt, he added...

Joey Smith’s religion was based on as much sex, money and power he could accumalate for himself...

He even took elements of the FreeMasons and tweeked them enough to suit his own foul ideas...

The FreeMasons were understandably mad at him for giving away their secrets to unworthy guys, and they were in the crowd outside the Carthage jail...

When Joey Smith called out to his FreeMason friends to save him, like the coward he was, they shot him...

I do not view them as “athiests”, but ex-mormons in limbo; wanting and trying to shake loose the last remnants of the cult from which they came.
As you know, it is much more challenging (of course) to get OUT of mormonism than to get in.

- - - - - -
Unfortuantely, many of them do turn to Atheism. Irr.org helps those who are leaving Mormonsim by showing them who Christ really is. That is important.

Too many LDS leave still believing the lie “if the LDS church isn’t true, nothing is.”

I have participated on Exmormon.org but also have had issues with their mission. It is more about bitching about the LDS rather than healing the wounds caused by the LDS. It is more about wallowing in the pain,then turning to Jesus to heal it.

Well they were that for the first 100 years...

But they liked to think of themselves as the mormon god’s army in a region in which 100% of the land was owned by the “prophet”...
