I always liked the “Moon of Trees Popping” that some of the Sioux used. After a record ice storm, I knew what they meant.

I was a teen in 1976 when we had an ice storm that basically shut down the entire Midwest.

A teenager without a PHONE for a whole week! Man, I barely survived.

We had no electricity, no heat, no water, etc. Dad made us a make-shift privy, and we melted snow in a pot over an open fire for water. Mom emptied the freezer and Dad set up the grill in the garage and grilled meat for a week straight, LOL!

Good Times. :)
