Perhaps you ought to remind yourself we were discussing Joe Paterno's STATS against the oh so powerful SEC.
That would be 5 and 2.......not quite as good as 11 and 2, but hey, at least they weren't voted on........
Actually, you might want to remind YOURSELF that this began with your posting an article about Paterno in which the author couldn't resist a few small digs at Bear Bryant. I take nothing away from Paterno but since you brought it up, here are some facts that indicate longevity does not necessarily equal superiority:
Paterno: .750 winning percentage. Bryant: .800 winning percentage (.780 at Alabama). Paterno: 5 losing seasons. Bryant: 1 losing season (his first at Texas A&M). Paterno: 2 National Championships. Bryant: 6 National Championships. Paterno: 3 Conference Titles. Bryant: 13 Conference Titles with 25 straight winning seasons at Alabama.
I guess that even back then all those polls were just wrong ...
