The 'super-sized' halo was found by Nasa's Spitzer Space Telescope.The problem, according to NASA officials, was that the spitzer telescope would not stay reliably pointed at the approved target. An even more perplexing problem was that project funds were draind as each new improper target was aquired. The project team was ready to remove the spitzer but stopped short when they learned the optics in the replacement were faulty.
