I visited Chicago once, many years ago...
Chicago has always been a rough town but IMHO, it started going to Hell in a handbasket right about the time Mike Ditka left the Bears organization.
Hasn't been the same since.

I went to Chicago for a short visit in the late ‘80’s, and I remember the traffic was horrendous. Not to mention the crime. But, I have to say, it did have some great nightclubs and restaurants.
