Thanks. And conservative leaning ebooks are very much appreciated.

Indeed you should go to your local public library and ask about Net-Library. It is much more than just public domain books.

Here in Georgia, it is available through GALILEO.

I love my new Kindle and while it wasn’t free ($4.47) - the first book I ordered from Amazon was so good I sat in the airport lounge reading it and missing my plane. (The last plane scheduled for Denver that day)

I sent in a suggestion that the developers add a small clock - so you could watch the time while you read. Haha!

The name of the book: Hostile Intent by Michael Walsh.

I've had good luck here

Onlinebooks

They have books in text and some have audio also. The only thing is some books can only be had if you are in Australia or some other country, but I have read many classics, including many of the old Science fiction stories of the 40s, 50s.

I’m going to second some folks here:

www.baen.com has their free library, and add books every now and again. David Weber and John Ringo, Eric Flint, and reprints of some classic SF.

www.google.com/books has pdf’s of scanned books from a number of large libraries. I’ve found a dozen books of stories by A. Conan Doyle, books on wood and metalcutting lathes, copperwork, steam engines, milling machines, and the sciences.

www.scribd.com has a “eclectic” collection of materials including novels, and many old books on divers subjects. I’ve found pdf’s of Walter V. Howe’s “The Modern Gunsmith vol. I & II” for example, and quite a bit of other stuff.
