Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
If PJ is doing it, I have faith in him that he’ll do it right. Maybe even develop some revolutionary technology, which he’s done before. If he doesn’t do it personally, at least he will hire the best brains to bring his ideas to completion.
I’m starting to hate the north wind.
“It always blows here, it’s just a question of from which direction.” OB 2011
I know, isn’t this just awlful? It has been so beautiful, and then, wham, we get this *rap again.
Mid-May and I’m still running the furnace.
Some begonias went in this morning. With the temperature, I’m a bit leery about setting out the tomatoes and planting the corn.
Good call. It’s suppose to get down to friggin’ forty degrees tonight and 43 tomorrow night. And was it just last weekend I was running the airconditioners?
Gypsy is undergoing a bit of a health crisis and OB and I have been switching off sleeping downstairs with her. With the new windows and no drafts, the house feels a whole lot more comfortable, although I wouldn’t mind the furnace going on a little more frequently :)
Aww...Poor Gypsy! :(
The upside of 40-degree nights is that the catz come in early. I think I’ll put the flannel sheets back on the bed.
Gandalf is looking more like ‘The Dude’ than his old wizardly self. OB
A wise move Win-Mag; as soon as you find something you like buy a second one since it’ll soon be unavailable or they will quit making it. Oh, yeah, that’s right, have have quit making them.
Those are nice examples, one for carry one an investment, best of both worlds. Any luck on the carry holster issue?
OB
Now I'm off to find all of the previous posts...........
Your name has been added, and thanks for the interest. With any ambition on my part, I'll have some product reviews posted today. It's 40 degrees and raining out here, and we're halfway through May already.
OB, I have to call Don Hume about one of his custom holsters.
Most of the changes center on the Midwest Industries quad rail forend, which replaced the plastic Tapco version, which I learned never fit properly in the first place. This aluminum version is solid and precise, and allowed me to hang more things on it, although I resisted the urge to hang everything including the kitchen sink on it.
This view shows the new "baby" Magpul angled fore grip, Noveske K9 barricade grabber, and covers for the unused (for now) lengths of rail.
The K9 frees up the supporting hand by allowing you to jam the front of the weapon into a barricade or hook over a window sill. The Magpul Angled Fore Grip 2 is a smaller, narrower version of the popular (especially with me) AFG. It can be used in more places without having to grind away parts of the grip to make things fit properly.
I originally replaced the AKM slant muzzle brake with a similar American-made one. I had never fired it indoors, but read that the original-style muzzle brake produced a tremendous blast and fireball that was rough on the shooter and anyone alongside him. The last thing I wanted was a "loudener" on my rifle.
I considered a Noveske "flaming pig" compensator, but went with a PWS multi-flute brake/flash hider. I have a shorter version on my AR57 which works vey well, so I expect no surprises with this one.
The red line is a high-temperature rubber O-ring, designed to stop the device from rattling on the threads. A nice touch. I also did some tuning on the American fire-control parts, which I swapped in for 922r compliance, and got a nice, crisp 5lb trigger pull out of it.
That's about all I did to this rifle to upgrade and add extra compliance parts. The cherry on top is the Aimpoint Comp M4, which is worth more than the rest of the weapon. It was surplus from another rifle upgrade project, and adds a bit of high tech to a rather proletarian rifle.
For the upcoming week, I'll probably do some minor handgun tinkering, and reviewing some new products. Then hope that my renewed enthusiasm to write continues.
Season 1, Episode 33, "Mr. Bevis"...
Thought there was something familiar about the main character...
It was the voice.
Orson Bean...voice of Bilbo in the R-B Hobbit.
Just thought I'd share that....
What rail are us you using on that forend?I mounted a quad rail on my AK not long after I got it and after a few years I decided it made things too dar heavy and I took it back off...
I think I took it off... I will have to check. I rarely dig that thing out.
The quad rail is from Midwest Industries.
I see that none of you have posted on this recent Hobbit Hole thread:
