Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
I started the mower cold on one pull.
Woo Hoo!!
At the gym on Tuesday morning, I reached into my shaving kit and caught the business end of a new razor blade. No stitches, but it took some considerable work to stop the bleeding.
What disturbed me most was that the gym didn’t have a better first aid response.
Thankfully, I got a good report from my Cardio guy on Tuesday, and he took me off both the blood thinner, and the anti-arrhythmia meds! I'm only doing a blood pressure med now, and a full aspirin each day. Feels great to be off those meds, I can tell you! The blood thinner would just make me tired!
Hope your hand heals soon!
...and I’ve been waiting such a long time...
for Caturday...
I'll be able to rest after about 1pm on Sunday. ;o)
You get a plain left grip, plus one with a large thumb rest, to help you put your thumb where they think it should be. The right side lets you add either a plain top half, or one with a guide of the proper size to get that pesky index finger on top of the trigger in the correct position.
While the smallest guide worked for me, here's a picture of Warhorse with the biggest one, to give you a better idea of how this grip works its magic.
Grasping the weapon seems more like putting on a boxing glove. There's only one way to do it.
This may work wonders for some people, but for $20 I considered it more of a source of amusement.
However, by way of apology, I put some new tropical hardwood grips on Warhorse, and changed out the original ejector for a more modern "high performance" one (top).
The project was simple enough. Drift out the cross pin, then wiggle out the old ejector with a pair of pliers, like pulling teeth. After about 93 years in the frame, it didn't want to give up easily.
Then tap the new ejector in place with a plastic mallet, run a 1/16th drill through the hole to create a notch in the forward leg of the extractor, and tap the cross pin back in. Total time, about 15 minutes.
The final step in this case was to remove the excess metal on the new ejector so the slide would fit back on, and, slide. Due to dimensional tolerances on all these parts, I spent about an hour with a fine file, and then NanoLube to get the top left surface (the part that actually hits the base of the empty cartridge) fitted to my satisfaction.
A bit of busy work, but it went smoothly, and turned out nicely. Still no time to get to the range, though.
Heh, yep, I’ve seen them and shot one on a Ruger once upon a time. It also had a matching thumb rest on the otherside. You are correct, there is only one way to hold the gun.
Newgunshop in the next town over. Six cases full of PD trade ins and confiscated guns. Milsurp and rebuilt EBRs too. NIce shop. :-)
Glad we didn’t plant the ‘maters, brisk mornings this weekend. Going to put in some liatris bulbs and trim the lilacs. We’re waiting on planting the cannas.
Heh. I planted ‘maters, peppers, and eggplant at the werkgarden a couple of weeks ago. They’re just sitting there.
Got the peas and beans planted and installed a new faucet set in the bathroom yesterday. Today I’ve just potted some plants and put RainX on thecar.
It really sucks when you’re still running the furnace in May. Where’s my global warming?
Hmmm...
I forgot that I stored some sweet potatoes in a cooler in thegarage over the winter.
Guess I’ll clean out the vodka factory after the Cubs game.
We got a call this morning from Jet Blue that the flight Clare was supposed to be taking at 7 this evening from Ft. Myers had been cancelled! SirKit got on the website, found a direct flight, then called Clare to have her ask them if she could get on that one. So instead of going to pick her up at Midnight, after her having done the connection through JFK, we get to pick her up at 9:30 or so. I can actually get a full night's sleep before I have to go in to work at 9 in the morning! WooHoo!
So I'm gonna go have a nap before we have to get her.
With a high of 56 and a week more or less of rain, I’m thinking it’s saving on running the A/C. Jackson came in for a late afternoon nap and informed us that he would ring staff tomorrow morning.
Earlier flights are better! Great news about Claire’s flight; SirKit really turned a lemon into lemonade.

It sounds like the perfect thing to put in a real estate listing. At least it would be for me, if I was buying a house there. So what if there is no municipal opera or art museum.
Yeah, I may still be up, but at least we’re not still at the airport, which we likely would have been, if her original flight had not been canceled. ;o) But I’m going to hit the sack now!
It was chilly at thepark yesterday.
In other news, I did another round at the ER on Saturday. Woke up around 4 a.m. with chest and other pains, cold sweat, etc. So, we went. Turned out yet again to be reflux. But as thedoctor said, you can’t play around with this stuff. ER experience was fine, but they admitted me for a few hours for observation. It was both bizarre and nightmarish at the same time. Probably writable. But I’ve never written horror before.
Still, been looking for areas of less stress. I dropped out of the round of classes I was taking (another long story).
All that is to say that I’m ~this close~ to not bothering with planting anything this year. I’m still cleaning out the beds from the winter. Working at the park I only have weekday evenings, and much of the time, not that.
We’ll see.
Found out my blood pressure was high only because I give blood and they started fussing at me about my BP. Trying to keep a sick dog alive is stress-inducing, that's for sure, but the alternative is just as stress-inducing.... LSA
I was looking back on some old threads today trying to find some pictures. Ran upon the conversations when we were first planning Entmoot.
Them was fun times.
