It’s another part time job to add to his current one. But it’s working in concessions (that would be beer) for the local minor league baseball team. They’re the new team in town and have been making a major push for fans.

Ah, the previously-mentioned Squirrels. Are they bad enough that the beer concession is a good post?

We want them to be evenly matched so all the games go into extra innings so he gets to work longer.

Some ballparks cut off beer sales after the 7th inning stretch, I take it JR’s does not subscribe to that policy.

Hey Mister Mag! Nice post as usual...

I made another addition to the collection tonight. Via a friend of a friend of a friend... picked up a Winchester Model 94 "Nickel Steel" 30WCF lever gun. Serial number indicates it was made in 1930. The bluing is all patina'd out, mostly gone... the stocks are in magnificent shape... barrel looks OK but is dusty and/or dirty. Need to run some patches through it to see if I got ripped off, but my hunch is that it'll clean up well. I hope so, anyway... the price was fair even if it doesn't clean up.

It'll be a safe queen mostly. Lately I'm looking for more "commodities" to stick money in, rather than the market or banks. This is one of those decisions. Kinda like the 1909 .45LC revolver.

Speaking of safes! I forgot to update you on my new safe!

I finally bought a full-on safe. One of these:

I won't have it for a couple more weeks. Had to order it because both floor models in the safe store were sold already. Mine is the same model as the picture, but will be a grey "granite" textured color scheme, and the furniture is "black nickel" instead of brass. Should look schweet.

But they'll deliver it and install and level it. I really ~really~ like AmSec safes. They're just heavier-duty than most. It's a 10ga steel-encased reinforced concrete box. This one is good for 90 minutes at 1275 degrees. Has an electronic lock and two internal glass re-lockers... and internal power for lights and dehumidifier. And... it's seriously heavy at about 1,000lbs. In the default configuration it has room for 12 rifles, which I can expand to 24 if needs be. They'll bolt it to the floor of the garage in my Bellevue place. It's going nowhere.

Anyway... now I'll finally have a good place for the collections (guns, swords, bullion, cash...) when I'm away, and I can relax a little knowing none of it is going anywhere. :-)

Odd Hobbit rumors.

Movie not to be released until December, 2013. Turns out that this is the date of the second movie.

Movie to start filming next month {source: Andy Serkis}. Unlikely, since still no casting announcement due to MGM finances.

Thanks for keeping us updated on that. Hope the movies don’t get delayed too much. Hmm, so I have potentially two years to find a babysitter?

That doesn’t help let me see The Hobbit movies in theaters. Baby girl is going to be an awesome big sister but not babysitter quality for a while yet...
