blasphemers! Everyone knows that God materialized the universe out of thin air 10,000 years ago.

Of course the alternative theory is that the universe expanded out of a super dense particle which also came from thin air ....

They don't have any skin in this game. Their entire schema falls within the bounds of the Quaternary Period whether it's 2.8 my, 1.8 my, .2 my or even .004 my.

Like that slick use of Mr. Slick's "skin" expressions. He likes people to "have skin in the game". On the other hand he's an idiot.

Who created the super dense particle?

The Journal of Quaternary Science

Must be a real page turner. No doubt has a few million subscribers. I think I tried their crossword once.

"blasphemers! Everyone knows that God materialized the universe out of thin air 10,000 years ago."

Old earth versus young earth advocates are only arguing about which process God used to create the universe. Young earthers believe in the "Abracadabra" (yes, it is a word with biblical origins) and Old Earthers believe in things like (theistic) evolution.

Under neither theory was there any air around at the time, thin or otherwise.

“came from thin air.”

No, it came from nothingness. Big difference.

How do we know there wasn’t air? Nobody posting here was there and a theory is just a theory until it can be tested. I’m just trying to point out on what a thin basis we attempt to classify the creation of the universe.

I’m sure wherever god is he gets a small chuckle out of this sort of thing every so often.

“How do we know there wasn’t air?”

Because the singularity contained the dimension of space, that is, the dimension that can hold something made of matter.

It's Gondwana

Saying Gondwanaland is like saying Sierra Nevada Mountains, Rio Grande River, or PIN Number.

Finally, a good night's rest! ;') Thanks decimon!
After decades of debate and four years of investigation an international body of earth scientists has formally agreed to move the boundary dates for the prehistoric Quaternary age by 800,000 years, reports the Journal of Quaternary Science... In the 18th Century the earth's history was split into four epochs, Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, and Quaternary. Although the first two have been renamed Palaeozoic and Mesozoic respectively, the second two have remained in use by scientists for more than 150 years... "It has long been agreed that the boundary of the Quaternary Period should be placed at the first sign of global climate cooling," said Professor Philip Gibbard. "What we have achieved is the definition of the boundary of the Quaternary to an internationally recognised and fixed point that represents a natural event, the beginning of the ice ages on a global scale."

As I’m not a geologist (not even close), do I have this right that the beginning of the Quaternary is when the earth began experiencing glacial cycles as we’ve known them?
