Kanye West Outburst Rains on Swift's MTV Parade
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS September 13, 2009
NEW YORK (AP) -- The MTV Video Music Awards kicked off Sunday with a poignant, tender tribute to fallen icon Michael Jackson, but soon got back into raucous character thanks to Kanye West, who delivered yet another awards show outburst at the expense of country and pop sweetheart Taylor Swift.
The two moments represented the highs and the lows of the VMAs, which are defined not by its awards, but its wacky and tacky moments.
West provided the wacky and tacky soon after the Jackson tribute, changing the mood from bittersweet to just plain bitter. West -- who has flipped out after losing at the VMAs, the Grammys, the American Music Awards and more -- complained again that the wrong person had been awarded a trophy. This time, it was on behalf of Beyonce.
Beyonce, nominated for best female video for ''Single Ladies,'' was bested by Swift, the best-selling artist of the year outside of Jackson. The 19-year-old was giddy when she won for her clip ''You Belong With Me,'' saying, ''I always wondered what it would be like to maybe win one of these someday, but never actually thought it would happen.''
But West ruined her moment when he jumped on stage at Radio City Music Hall.
''Taylor, I'm really happy for you, and I'm gonna let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time,'' he said, as a shocked Beyonce looked on and the crowd began to boo West.
A crestfallen Swift didn't finish her speech, but the crowd applauded her anyway. She later performed ''You Belong With Me'' in a subway station.

>>>there are so many losers at these awards shows that I cannot believe anyone still watches these things.<<<<<
These shows... this venue... these people... (kanye, beyonce, MTV, VH1, BET) this is what got Obama elected.
You are correct but if more people didn’t let their children watch this crap the world would be a better place.
Remember his rant about President Bush?
Notice a trend here, very bad behavior, followed by apology, followed by failure to take responsibility.
I know. But it will never end.
My grandmother didn’t want my mother listening to Elvis.
My mother didn’t want me listening to Twisted Sister.
And I don’t want my kids listening to Kanye.
When they have kids.....

Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift is a wonderful performer who has overcome much in her life.. She will long remember the true face of the MTV crowd embodied by Mr. West. His dagger met steel.
Mass-produced commercial pop crap. I’m surprised there wasn’t a line forming to rush the stage.
As is her history, KW just handed Taylor Swift her next big award. She writes songs about her ex boyfriends and other life experiences. THIS event is going to be her next big hit. More power to her. She’s a blossoming great talent. Writes most of her material. Pretty good, too. I saw her when she started touring. Came around with George Straight. Now that’s getting an education in country music.
It wasnt’.
Next year she should bring Trace Atkins as her guest, let him take care of Kanye.
Correction. kanye west is a gay fish/genius. Just ax him.
Notice Kanye does this to a waifish, sweet little white girl and not a burly country singer. What a puss.
I agree. Beyonce was smiling while trying to look outraged. That was just bad acting.
I’m a long time country music fan. I can’t stand Taylor Swift’s music. Butmultitudes moreso, I can’t stand what that rude bastard, Kanye West did to humiliate her in front of her fans. MF asshole dickweed!!!!!
You've hit on a great observation.
Can't get the microphone away from Baraq either, LOL
I've been on the road today and listening to a lot of radio.
Most radio folks are making big fun at his expense.
Someone with your nick would HAVE to agree :-P
I thought his apology on Twitter was crappy (especially when he says “I LIKE THE LYRICS ABOUT BEING A CHEERLEADER AND SHE’S IN THE BLEACHERS!”)...still obvious he’s making fun of her...even if it is kind of funny.
