Premiers Thursday, September 17 @ 8PM EDT/PDT on SeeBS
20 new contestants will compete for the $1 million prize on the islands of Samoa
Who will be the sole Survivor?
I did watch it. The duck herding was hysterically funny! It stinks to be the first eliminated, no matter what the political leanings are. Looking forward to this season of TAR as it has become my travelogue.
re: Survivor... I don't know if I can watch with Russell... we watched all but the last month or so of Big Brother, but couldn't take Natalie (female version of Survivors Russell) anymore. Mean people suck. lol
I’m having a serious problem with Survivor - I’m all for so-called “villains” - villains make the show interesting. Richard Hatch was that kind of villain. Even Jerri Manthey was the kind of villain you could actively dislike and revel in their ousting.
But Johnny Fairplay, “Coach” and now this sociopath Russell - these are not enjoyable villians. For me, they are producing borderline hate. I don’t want to hate people in a reality show.
Same thing with The Amazing Race. The Guidos were marvellous villains - so full of themselves (”We lived in Paris for two years!”) that it was wonderful watching them hoist on their own petard.
So far on Amazing Race, I too am liking former Miss America and spouse and the Harlem Globetrotters. The poker players and the lawyer and his wife can leave my screen any time.
Why lie about what you do for a living? This isn’t a game where you’re voted off the island - you get ahead by employing good racing skills and making transitory alliances where there is mutual advantage (first two teams at the airport? Help each other out, go to several counters and get yourselves the best flight possible). Oh, and learning to drive a stick shift.
So far, I like the older couple, the interracial couple, and the father-son team. I actually find the poker players entertaining - they make for good TV.
I hope the gay brothers act like Mel and Mike and not like Reichen and Chip.
Boston Lawyer is the most annoying one on the show right now. Just another one of a long string of overly aggressive alpha males (like Colin, Ray, Lake-like-the-ocean, and of course JOHNATHUG).
7.9 quake happened near Samoa within the last hour.
Are they done filming on the island already, or are they potentially in danger from the tsunami??
Found my own answer. Wiki says filmed ‘between mid June and mid-July 2009 in Samoa’.
* PACIFIC TSUNAMI -- Villages on Samoa's Upolu "flattened" by earthquake
Survivor 19 (the one that’s being shown now) filmed between June and July. “All Stars” filmed from August to September. They were done filming “All Stars” before the first episode of season 19 aired.
For Survivor 20 - August 2009 September 2009. I did not find a specific date range for that one.
Well that’s a relief. Hopefully all the tear down crew were packed up and gone before today.
I heard (read) on another site that a few of the tear down crew were still in the area but all were safe.
Man, will Thursday ever come?
Thanks for that update Pete, and no, Thursday can’t come soon enough for me.
Foa Foa Tribe: Ashley, Ben, Elizabeth, Jaison, Mick, Natalie, Russell H.
Galu Tribe: Brett, Dave, Erik, John, Kelly, Laura, Monica, Russell S., Shannon, Yasmin
Losers: Marisa, Mike, Betsy
As you all know, Samoa was just hit by a major earthquake and tsunami. Latest reports indicate at least 113 dead in Samoa and American Samoa, and 6 dead in the nearby island nation of Tonga. Whole villages have been flattened. My thoughts are with all the victims, and especially with any freepers that are in the area.
Is this the Curse of the Visiting Reality Show? Vietnam, which was the most recent pit stop for The Amazing Race, was just hit by a powerful typhoon. The race also visited Sri Lanka a few months before the major tsunami struck, and New Orleans a few months before Hurricane Katrina hit.
But the show goes on...
Episode 3 title: "It's Called A Russell Seed"
At Foa Foa, Jaison attempts to recruit an alliance to remove Russell H. from power. Will he be successful? Meanwhile, at Galu, Shambo continues to be on the outs with her tribe, and mouthy Yasmin returns from her visit to Foa Foa.
Reward Challenge: "Sea Crates" - contestants swim in pairs to retrieve crates from the ocean. The crates contain a comfort reward which includes blankets and pillows.
Immunity Challenge: ?
There may again be only one challenge this week.
Spoilers (highlight to see):
Challenge(s) winner: I think Galu wins all challenges this episode, whether there are one or two. Rumor has it that starting in a couple of episodes, the tribes' fortunes reverse and Foa Foa goes on a winning streak.
Voted Off: Ben
I'll be back after the show with the recap.
Prayers have been lifted to those affected by these latest natural disasters.
Jill - do we have a list from the second All All-Stars season yet. I would like to see them bring Jonathan back since he didn’t get to finish his Fans v. Favorites season (although, as much as I love Jonathan, I don’t think it would have made a difference, except that perhaps, just perhaps that annoying Parfait wouldn’t have won).
I hope there won’t be a tribal switcheroo this season like when StephaME was the last Mohican standing. It would be funny to continue to watch the one tribe blow it week after week unless they can figure out how to pull together.
No list, just rumors. There’s a “Heroes vs. Villains” theme and likely contestants include Jonny Failplay, StepheME, Coach, Russell H., and Shambo.
LOL @ “Parfait.”
God help us, doesn’t Mark Burnett get it? Villians like Hatch, Brian from Thailand we love. This rogue’s gallery is made up of people we never, ever, wanted to see again.
If Jonathan does come back, watch him stick him in with the villians, because Just Peachy Probst always thought he was one.
I would love to see just ONE season when one of the two tribes go to full annihilation. No remixing at any point.
