Although most of the surrounding towns are ok, Hartford itself is beset throughout by thuggery, political or otherwise.
I worked for a month in Hartford. The insurance companies quit at 5pm and the streets were empty by 5:10 (except for shambling homeless). After dark there was one brewpub, one sports bar, no movie theaters, no live music. The mall that abutted the former Whalers arena was the most woebegone craphole I’ve ever shopped in.
