Today’s Mayan’s tell it a little differently. They claim they were a peace loving people until the indians from Mexico City showed up and that those other indians were the bloodthirsty lot.

The bend-em-over-to-extract-the-heart alters predate the Spanish. So they had to find bad indians to blame them on.
