East to West ping, maybe for catalog
Well...looking at the topography of South America this would make sense. So people coming down from Central America would naturally hug the coastal regions. To the west you have the Andes...so the path of least resistance is the coastal region to the East. People would go down the Eastern side and then spread back out to the West over time.

The genetic evidence of Lewis' research in South America suggests the continent was populated first from the east to the west.No surprise there. Also, the dates for sites in South America go as high as 30,000 years -- and that's just so far. Of course, the Clovis-First-and-Only will only be abandoned by its advocates if they A) die, or B) are able to replace it with a somewhat higher upper limit to human antiquity in the Americas. Would the fact that so much later European exploration and colonization came from the east side have any bearing on that diversity - particularly when importation of African slaves may have been included?
