Good evening.
Go Cheney! The former Vice-President strikes back at the Obama Justice Dept.'s attack on CIA investigation techniques. Cheney, unlike the Holder's Justice, values our safety & a strong national defense.
Thousands of California homes and families are in the path of devastating fires. And so we pray for their safety and that of the firefighters.
She replied that"well, this global warming causes erratic weather."
I pointed out that we have had no sun spots and that the global temperature average was decreasing, and she STILL is going with the party line.
And I have a degree in geology with courses in climatology, glacial geology, and geomorphology! But hey, what do I know when St. Albert of Gore pontificates!
And this amatuer meteorologist, whose been playing around with the subject for almost 40 years, would agree with you.
I've not experienced an overall summer as cool as this one in the 22 years I've lived in the Washington area.
In the first year I lived in the Washington area, the high temp for the year was 106.
Haven't seen a century mark now for a couple of years. I think (haven't really counted) the total number of 90+ days this year are less than 10. We had one 98 degree day, but otherwise, the 90+ days have been just over 90 degrees.
We had upper 70 degree days in July for the high.
We had coastal, non-tropical, storms in late June (this is a "winter" phenomenon) -- unheard of. So, naturally, global warming is to blame. Silly me. :)
Well, I am laying in a supply of firewood for winter and working on making sure I can keep the house warm this winter. Mr. Marple is due in from Denver for a week on Friday, and he is going to be working on winterizing the house, rather than sitting around watching James Bond movies. LOL!
As an aside, every time I think of my democrat sister and brother voting for this absolute travesty of a president, I fume that they came from the same gene pool. I cannot believe people I am related to can be so gullible and uninformed!
Ah, well, that's life. There is probably a lesson I am supposed to learn from this, but I haven't figured it out yet.
I LOVED that movie. I want to go back and see it again.
Shoot! D fed me cut apples and grapes this morning, unamerican I say!
Toby
He is telling it as it is too, we need to see it!
Terrible about the kidnapped girl and the children, what did this poor girl go thru.
The fires out west....question...why are tney NOT using the military aircraft? Foolish for them not doing so.
Toby
When you get out that white chicken chili recipe, could you share that with me? Been looking for a good one.
I arranged that my sisters comments didn’t show up on my facebook page anymore because they disgusted me so much. Yesterday I checked her page because she had some wedding photos I wanted to see. Was I sorry. Lamenting about “Uncle Teddy- Uncle to us all. Yuk, he certainly is not MY uncle. Lambasting everyone who is against healthcare. All these crooked healthcare companies and the politicians they pay off, etc etc. Can one divorce one’s sister?
Did you turn into a horse over night?
I’ll cook for you.
Keep in mind I do a small portion because I am the only now who eats it.
2 whole boneless/skinless chicken breats cut into chunks.
1 small onion
1 clove of garlic.
Sautee in 2tsp olive oil till chicken is nicely browned.
add one can of Goya pink beans with sauce (i don’t drain or rinse the beans because i LOVE the sauce)
1 (or 2 depending on your taste) small cans of chopped green chilles.
2 tspn of cumin
1 small can of sweet yellow corn
1 tspn of oregano
4 cups of chicken broth.
salt and pepper to taste.
Throw all of that in the pot, bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer for one half hour.
Sometimes I serve it over yellow rice with ALOT of cheese, or I make white rice and put chopped cilantro in the rice to make it “green”.
This is the one I had in my file, but I like Neets better.
Chili Chicken
2 10 oz cans cream of chicken soup
cup milk
2 tsp tabasco sauce
2 4 oz cans green chilies, seeded and chopped, not too small
8-12 corn tortillas
2 cup cooked chunks of chicken
1 cup onion, diced
1 cup tomato, diced
½ # monteray Jack Cheese, shredded
paprika
green onion
sliced radishes
Method
Preheat oven to 350. Lightly grease a 8x8 inch pan. combine soup, milk, tabasco, and chilies. Layer tortillas in the pan. Spread chicken chunks over tortillas in pan. Spread onion and diced tomato over chicken. Pour half of soup mixture over this. Sprinkle cheese. Repeat ingredients, starting with tortillas and ending with cheese. Bake 45 minutes. Let stand 15 minutes before cutting. Garnish with paprika, chopped green onion and sliced radishes.
OOOPS, i forgot. The original recipe I used called for about 8 oz of heavy cream added at the end.
that makes it a little creamy and I advise you use that.
Gee’s recipe reminded me of that.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!
Geee, the hard part for me is that I am the oldest in my family, and I take seriously that our family remain close. This is not always easy, with the varieties of political opinions and various degrees of religious faith. (For example, this same sister is the one who is in charge of Easter breakfast, and she seems to schedule it so that we have to go to very early mass or the vigil mass. She does not attend church.)
There are days when I think about selling out and moving to Colorado with my husband. It's my son's family with the grandkids that keep me here...that and the fact we have always wanted to keep this house.
I don't remember that I spent a lot of time telling my democrat family members how wonderful Bush was. I kept quiet at family gatherings. I have often said that this dissension always is started by democrat family members.
Yes, mine freezes very well.
The past few weeks I seem to have been freezing quite a few leftovers for second meals.
This chili, a beef stroganoff, sausage and peppers. And of course my homemade spaghetti sauce.
My sister is the same way about not keeping things to herself. I had to talk my 2 brothers in to attending my nieces wedding a few weeks back because she had to get in to a political argument with both of them over the phone a few weeks before. She is as far left as it gets and thinks the rest of us are just uninformed.(typical lib right). I didn’t think my niece should suffer for it, even though her mother is wacko.
Since there are only two of us now, I freeze often. I still make the regular amount on many things that can be frozen and freeze half. Stuffed peppers, meatloaf, meatballs, spaghetti sauce, chop suey, chili, soups. We eat brown rice and it takes about 45 minutes to cook. I usually make about 8 cups when I make something that calls for rice, and split the remaining in ziplock bags and freeze them. I nuke them in the bags. I haven’t had much luck in freezing pasta. It may because I use the Barilla plus, which is low in carbs and not made completely of wheat.
Good morning Neets. Hope you are well. I just posted on the wrong thread. Of course.
