Home Quick remedies for Severe Gout Attack
self

Posted on 08/25/2009 9:05:40 PM PDT by Global2010

OK Guys/Gals.

I have not had an attack in years but after attending a couple of Brewfests and relizing how good Ale is (I quit drinking beer do to gout years ago) and forgetting how crippling and excrutiating an attack of gout is well I have a whole foot invovled.

As a careprovider I have to get up (I have an old wheelchair to use the pain is that bad).

I dont want to go to the Doc and thought I would try some home flushing of the uric acid.

Right now I have a combo in one ice pitcher of Orange/cherry/apple juice and V-8 and Lemon in the other ice pitcher drinking both at a steady pace with lots of water.

We have a cherry stand down the road so tommarrow I will drive over if I can stand/walk to my rig and buy those to start eating.

Time is of the essense to get back on my feet.

I also drank some viniger (did not have Apple cider viniger on hand).

Will also try the epsom salt foot bath tommarrow when help comes in.

So any other suggestions for a quick reduction in the uric acid levels?

I prefer to call it Grout cause that is what it feels like between the joints.

Glad the sharing helped someone.

We all face complicated personal challenges, perhaps more at the moment than many have experienced before. Sharing our various responses strengthens us all.

As a side note, the person we hired to help with the roofing backed out, so DH is doing it himself, as usual, while still managing his own work schedule. So far, though, his foot seems to still be healing and a morning of work made no negative impact. Using a scaffold and those standing boards has made a difference, as he is avoiding walking on sloped surfaces.

Hey Global2010, I can’t tell you how pleased I am to have found this old thread. I am dying here.

I have never had gout and I have not been diagnosed yet, but I am reasonably certain that is what is killing my feet... mostly my left foot.

It started last week when we had to make an unplanned 9 hour drive, and then drive back.

I’ve been toughing it out in hopes it would just go away, but it’s not.

I just sent my wife to the store to buy the items mentioned on this thread.

I’ll try to get into the doc tomorrow. Damn this stuff is painful.

Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for this old thread. ;>)
