Surgery will start at 7:45 am on
Tuesday December 29
at Mass General and
it's scheduled for 10 to 12 hours.

Most of you are well aware that Win (Saveliberty) has been diagnosed with a massive tumor in her head & has been dealing with waits, frustrations and changing /postponing schedules since day one....And that was in August! Her headaches & other medical problems prior to diagnosis had gone on for some time.

The secondary problem of related hemorrhaging with the additional "fun" of allergies, tooth infection, med conflicts, parents and home issues have compounded her time of waiting & wondering.

We are setting up a prayer chain for her at both FRee Republic and also at The Right Reasons. The FR thread will be public & the TRR will be in the Porch section which is for member's only. Save posts a daily thread called the Coffee Shop at TRR & it is full of all the happenings in US & around the world of interest to most of us.

We will be having updates posted & will be in contact with her parents regularly during the day. Fanfox, Parris & I will be all contributing as we know information.

She has had to stop working (out of state commuting not good) and the future is unknown & of course a worry for someone as talented and gifted as she is but none the less.. in a troublesome economy of course many concerns. She knows she will not have hearing in the one ear as the nerve will be severed. She has through all of this maintained a wonderful sense of humor and has had that vital "what if" discussion with her parents. Hard - but Important.

I have an hourly prayer time set up beginning 12 hours prior to surgery. Would love to have folks sign up for hour or more slots. The FR Thread is NOT able to be edited.. the TRR is so I can add your name in time slots as folks sign up

You can of course pray ANYTIME, ALL THE TIME..but we would love to have people volunteer (and more than one for any time slot is great)

Please pray for:

* The surgeons & medical staff - their focus, wisdom & discernment
* NO MORE DELAYS/COMPLICATIONS
* Win's parents - and other family members - as they wait & watch
* Win - that her body will be protected from further problems & will react well to the procedures, anesthesia, surgical recovery and rehab

WOULD YOU PLEASE POST ON THE THREAD DURING YOUR TIME FRAME .. and of course anyone can post anytime..and pray anytime

Wow, nice way to end the pre-op portion of the Thread and begin the surgery portion of the Thread, Dolly.

And a terrific picture of saveliberty and her mom and dad. [Also appears that saveliberty is out trying in her own way to stimulate the economy. Way to go!]

Tarheel [Mrs. Foxy] and I had a chance to chat with saveliberty today and she is upbeat and READY!

Sending prayers and will be saying extra prayers tomorrow for you, your parents, and your doctors!

since I'm out here on the Left Coast, I will take the late night hours of the prayer chain! I know all will go well, especially with your positive attitude, Save!

Thank you so much for the ping, Dolly! F I N A L L Y!!!!! Yikes! Now that the day is almost here, this is really kinda scary, isn't it, but dang, that horrible thing just needs to get the heck out of SL's head NOW!

SaveLiberty, I wish you & your parents the best of luck and all of God's divine grace to guide your docs & OR team during your surgery & to protect the three of you tomorrow and throughout your recovery & rehab!

I just looked up at Catholic Online for a traditional prayer & found this for any of the RC's reading this & participating in Dolly's initiative here:

Prayer Before Surgery

Loving Father, we entrust SaveLiberty to your care this day; guide with wisdom and skill the minds and hands of the medical people who minister to her in your Name, and grant that every cause of her illness be removed, she may be restored to soundness of health and learn to live in more perfect harmony with you and with those around her. Through Jesus Christ. Amen. Into your hands, I commend her body and her soul. Amen.

Is there anybody else here more fluent in RCism than I who might know who the patron saint for head/brain surgery might be? This morning I'll email my Mom ( who is... um...er, more devout than I, lol) to ask her if there's a traditional intercessor for that particular cause. Maybe it's not theologically correct, but I always just use my old childhood stand-by St. Anthony as my designated hitter/go-to-guy for extra firepower anyway. Couldn't hoit, I figure. ;-)

((((Godspeed, SaveLiberty!)))) We love ya!

Beautiful post, Dolly! The picture of Jesus and the lighthouse and those Bible verses are excellent choices, and I loved the precious pic of save and her parents!

Being a Southern gal, the picture of Jesus and the lighthouse reminded me of an old Southern gospel song from the 70s called - guess what?!?! - "The Lighthouse". Ha! I know that not everyone likes Southern gospel music, but I love it, and I hope y'all enjoy the message in this one. : )

The Lighthouse

I don't have anything on schedule for tomorrow, so, save, and her family and her medical team, will be in my thoughts and prayers off and on all day. I'm going to make a conscious effort to take a few minutes out of each hour to pray for them after my morning prayers tomorrow.

Thank you for the ping, DollyCali. We were in Cincinnati over Christmas, flew back late yesterday. So glad to hear saveliberty’s surgery was successful. A friend of mine who had an acoustical neuroma removed over 15 years ago also lost her hearing in that ear but has led a very active life ever since. It was a relatively rare procedure back then. You did a marvelous job of organizing and starting the surgery part of this thread—the verses you chose are lovely. Please let me add my thanks for it.
