Hi All,
I just received an e-mail from "saveliberty" advising me she has been hospitalized. The cause as she wrote was:
"I have a significant, but benign tumor near my ear that is pushing against a nerve (which hemorrhaged). It sounds bad but I have excellent care."
It certainly does sound serious to me, even though saveliberty said she was being well cared for. She did want me to let her FRiends here know of her condition. When I get further info, I will post it.
In the mean time, if you could add saveliberty to your prayers, I know she would be comforted by that.
saveliberty is often the Threadmistress, and I am but a poster. So, if you all could perhaps place saveliberty's situation in the proper locations, I would be very grateful. [Or Moderators, if you are reading this.]
Get well soon, saveliberty!
We are praying for you, save. Keep the faith and hurry back.
We would glady love to see you “break the thread”.
Prayers for saveliberty. Thank you Lord, for your care and healing.
My call did get thru this afternoon and S/L was in good spirits and feeling quite positive after seeing today's MRI scans. Medicine is not my area of expertise and no, I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night, so take my summary with a grain of salt.
Basically, it seems there is a [benign] tumor near S/L's ear. The right one if I recall. It is touching an area that has some hemorrhaging of a blood vessel. The question is whether it is a single problem or two different ones. The thinking seems to be leaning to the tumor as the cause but it is still being studied. S/L is very confident in both her doctors and her care. And, can clarify any errors I make in translating this medical stuff when she returns home and posts.
One fun event saveliberty related was a call from Surfer-Boy [Griff Jenkins] to check on how she was doing. He is a terrific guy and models many of the virtues he took from Tony Snow when he was Tony's radio producer.
Again, saveliberty wanted to make sure I thanked everybody who has been so comforting with thoughts and prayers. So:
Thank you, FReepers!
Thanks for the update.
I just had a lengthy phone conversation with save.. she is in great spirits despite the gravity of the situation.
. She may go home for a few days before surgery. It sounds like she has a wonderful team at Mass General who are on top of things & caring. Her parents are pretty upset & of course that is the parents job.. worry about your kiddos along the way
The tumor is of “significant” size. A hearing loss has already occurred & is possibly permanent. The internal bleeding is a concern. Her bosses at work have been unbelievably supportive & she is quite grateful
She appreciates everyone’s concern & prayers..
Thanks for the updates.
Keeping SL and her family close in prayer. May God keep her and her medical team within His providential care and guidance for all to go well, and bless her with restoration of good health.
Thanks for the updates. Prayers for SL continue!!
Earlier I had mentioned to S/L that it is our job [and, as you point out, her parents] to worry. Hers is to just get well.
Keep the prayers coming, everyone.
Much appreciated, LucyJo.
Nite, All.
Thank you for letting us know. Prayers continue...
Cibbie and I are solid. I will give him your regards. We love all of you Snowflakes. I feel so bad for Save. Thinking good thoughts for her.
thanks for letting us know, continuing to keep saveliberty in our prayers.
Thank you so much for the update on our SL, Dolly. I hope she gets to go home before the surgery to get her laptop or at least an iphone or bberry so she can plug in while she recuperates.
Yikes! I think I’m worried most now about her mom & dad worrying. It’s the loved ones that always seem to have the worst time of it, because they are the most powerless of all in these situations - just a very stressful place to be, especially for parents.
Saveliberty sounds great. She has had some further tests and talks with the docs and all are optimistic. As DollyCali mentioned, there is the possibility of losing the hearing in S/L's right ear after the operation, but thankfully she was given two and is not worried over that situation. The hemorrhaging is still a problem and may effect when and how the surgery occurs. S/L reminded me that it is a benign tumor which allows much more flexibility to the surgery.
It turns out S/L loves her morning cup of coffee and had to “debate” with the hospital to let her have it. [She can elaborate on her return.] Needless to say, she won the debate. I can personally attest to being able to tell when S/L has had her cup of java as she is alert and perky afterwards. [Make that more alert and perky.]
Anyway, I hope I am conveying the upbeat spirit that saveliberty had this morning. She knows the odds of things going wrong and feels they are low enuff to deter her from fearing the surgery.
Again thanks to all for supporting saveliberty.
Thanks for the update on Saveliberty, Foxfanvox.
Thanks for the ping, leilani! Dolly, can you add me to your ping list? Thanks!
I can say without reservation that saveliberty sounded strong and positive tonight. Nothing like the thought of being home to boost one’s spirits, eh? She still has to jump thru a few hoops tomorrow [I am speaking metaphorically here!] and I am going to bypass the morning call. Perhaps the next update will be from saveliberty herself.
Received a nice note from MizSterious about the power of prayer, so keep those prayer wheels going until saveliberty has completed all of her surgeries.
Good nite, FRiends of saveliberty.
