How much is your dog or cat worth?

[history]
The kitty that falls asleep on your pillow purring every night -- is she worth just the $30 you paid for her at the shelter? Or your loyal dog, who you walk with every day -- what, $150? That's the value that showed up on your credit card -- but is their real value about more than the pricetag? In a court of law, that might not be the case.

"...Jeffrey Nanni has sued his former domestic partner, Maurice Kevin Smith, alleging that Smith maliciously killed their 12-pound Chihuahua..." Meee-ow.

Let me guess, they had a hissy fit.

I don’t think my cats have any cash value on the market. That said, they have great sentimental value to me, and I am willing to spend some significant money on them. Three years ago, Norman (see my homepage) needed surgery to save his life. It cost $1200, took me several months to pay off, and was worth every penny.

Anyone who owns a dog has devoted hours of time to make it his own. That dog is not the same as some other $150 dog. Any court that doesn't recognize this deserves to be shut down.

If I were to touch the cat, in any other way than kindness, my wife would be on me like Palin on Obama.

I can’t put a monetary amount on it, but should it ever becomes necessary, my girls and boys are well worth spending time in prison for.

You have to consider the extra value you get out of your cat. I have a cat that is just right for bench pressing. She really gives my arms a workout! The other cat is just right for a floor warmer. On a cold day, just find where he has been laying and your feet are nice and warm for a while.
They are also great for clean up after dinner. Not a crumb survives!
Yes, you have to consider the extra value to those special little (little?) fuzzballs.

He’s a Belgian Sheepdog (Groenendael). Still a pup, will be 2 in December. He is a handful! But a perfect match for me. Never realized how much like a herding dog I am! Is yours a Golden Lab? LOOOVEEE them! My boy’s best friend is a golden.

The furbabies around are worthless. Totally worthless. But I wouldn’t trade them for anything.

Never saw a Belgian Sheepdog. They are beauties.
Mine is a 5 month old Yellow Lab, her mom was yellow but the sire had almost a completely white coat.
She was born with a green tint because of rubbing against the placenta during birth.
Funny thing though she was born on St Patrick's Day.

We had a full English Bull Dog literally dumped in our kitchen, by someone incapable of taking care of himself.............our free rescue dog has now cost us over 1500 dollars, but she is worth every penny.
Never have I had a dog with more personality, she was a runt but she was right for us.
