How much is your dog or cat worth?

The kitty that falls asleep on your pillow purring every night -- is she worth just the $30 you paid for her at the shelter? Or your loyal dog, who you walk with every day -- what, $150? That's the value that showed up on your credit card -- but is their real value about more than the pricetag? In a court of law, that might not be the case.

Mine are worth more to me than I could express in a dollar type number. It’s like asking the average person how much they would sell their kid for.

How much? Depends on the cut.

$1200 must be the magic number. My daughter rescued a mini-dachshund puppy from a very disreputable local “breeder”. A oongential liver disorder and $$ later, she’s my constant companion. Of course the kitties think this is ridiculous.

I’ve read about that! How ironic she was born on St. Patty
s day. I would have been cliche and called her Lucky, or something Irish. The light blond labs are just gorgeous. A friend in Florida has one and she’s just a doll.

I’ve spent close to $5,000 on my cat after he got into it with a car about 6 years ago. He is now 14 years old and is the best money ever spent.
I still want the old muscle car by the way....

My cat is worth $10,000. I know that because I traded two $5,000 dogs to get it. Photobucket

I spent over $4000 on my cat Elvis while he battled cancer. I’d spend all that and more all over again gladly. He was a special boy!

My boy and our dogs

We also have two cats. But as much as they are a part of the family I wouldn't pay more than a few hundred dollars to keep them alive. If it got to four digit expenses I would sadly put them down and go to the pound and rescue another puppy.

Beautiful. My brother adores Siamese cats. He lost his 18 yr. old Oscar this year.

I lost my best friend (17 year old Pedro the Siamese) last year and was lucky enough to find Jack this Spring. He's becoming a part of the family, but I still miss Pedro every day. Photobucket

When it comes to our pets, we spend crazy amounts on them- something non-pet owners will never understand. My departed rescued feral kitty had over 4000k invested in him, mainly due to urinary tract disease. One more blockage and he would have been turned into a 'female'. But with a change of diet, he lived until age 13, when he died of grief after losing his lifelong companion kitty to lung cancer.

When my beloved Daisy (dog) passed last year, I spent over 2000k to try and save her. I had to. The amount of joy and unconditional love she gave me for 9.5 was priceless. Trying to save her was the least I could do. Unfortuuntely, she succumbed to the blood disease. Never regretted trying to save her or the money it cost.

Actually I had "Clover" picked as a name, until I took her to my parish priest to get her blessed.

He recommended Patsy, to honor St Patrick.

I kind of liked the name and decided to go with it.
