the last thing you should do is stop and get out. The first thing to do is to dial 911.

I hear that....and if you don't have a cell phone for some reason,at least drive to the nearest well-lit store,shopping center,etc. and then get out. If the guy threatens you,run inside the store and call 911.
I would NEVER get into a car with someone,knife or gun or whatever.
If the SOB's gonna kill me,he's gonna do it right there in front of witnesses and with a big ol'fight on his hands.
Better that,then having a hiker find your remains months later 100 miles out in some desolate area.

(Even better,pack heat and just shoot the b@$t@rd right then and there if he draws a knife on you.)

That's called Crime Scene #2 and you have to do everything in your power to not be forced to leave the original Crime Scene. A lot of people do not understand this.
