Lived in a farming town? No, but I know people who live in half the small towns in this county. They don't have their own police departments, either. I also know that our sheriff is trying to scam the small towns into paying more for law enforcement.
If that is not the reason he is so against the sheeple taking matters into their own hands, what is? Public safety? People willing to protect themselves are safer than people who aren' t willing to do so. You and I know that. That sheriff probably does, too, even if he would never admit it.

On the town website, they claim 350 residents. But it also says this:
It has a population of 325 residents. Town of LaCrosse

Apparently the town has no law enforcement themselves. See post 11.

See my #22.
I knew they had no PD. Most (all?) small towns don't. I also know why. Expense. Insurance, wages, gas, training, insurance and other things keep going up. The county makes a deal with the town to provide police protection for less.
Later on, the county increases the town's "fair share". Some of the increase is even due to increasing cost.

One other thought: Yes they do have their own law enforcement, provided by the La Crosse militia.

Yes they do have their own law enforcement, provided by the La Crosse militia. Too bad that doesn't really work. There's a little town near me whose police force was disbanded because of corruption. They now have state police. In other words, you're on your own. The SP are spread so thin that they seldom patrol.
We were waiting at the town's stoplight to make a left turn when a pickup from behind made the turn, cutting us off and we nearly collided............in front of the old police station. I hate driving through there!

It worked that day in La Crosse.
I've been cut off a couple times in front of an active police station. Once by a cruiser rushing out into the street without looking, siren or lights and once by a guy who just realized where he was doing 50 in a 35 whipping into my lane and braking to 30.

It is especially nice to know that such exists in the leftist state of Washington.

It worked that day in La Crosse. Yes it did! lol
Yeah. I've been cut off before too. But never from behind and the left when I was making a left. It was a close thing.
