I usually only root for people, but Hamilton is an exception.
I’d take an assault rap for a right hook on tv… 😁

I suspect that the rule changes this year along with George Russell’s great driving and early success as a newby are showing that Mister Hamilton’s driving abilities have been overstated.

Yesterday was the 28th anniversary of Ayrton Senna da Silva death. May 1, 1994. RIP

If you are unfamiliar with his Continuing legacy, it is with the Instituto Ayrton Senna. Two months before Ayrton Senna’s fatal crash at Imola, he and his sister, Viviane Senna, had discussed creating a charitable organization with the intent to help with the human development of children and adolescents across Brazil, in cooperation with other businesses. Instituto Ayrton Senna was then founded by Ayrton’s family six months later in 20 November 1994, under the presidency of Viviane.[1] The organization has since then invested US$80 million in social programs and actions in cooperation with other businesses and NGOs.

This article sheds some light:

Red Bull could form daunting alliance as Audi and Porsche make Formula 1 decision

Red Bull Racing, the home of current world champion Max Verstappen, could be set for another major boost in 2026 by forming an alliance with a newly formed team in F1

Red Bull are set to form a formidable partnership with Porsche in time for the 2026 F1 season.

The prospect comes after German car companies Audi and Porsche confirmed they would be entering the sport. Herbert Diess, the head of their parent group Volkswagen, informed the media at an event at the company’s base in Wolfsburg.

Despite the chief executive admitting the move had caused arguments at board level, representatives at both Audi and Porsche had strongly pointed to the potential income generated by being in F1. He added that Porsche had made the more advanced preparations of the two.

The sport currently consists of 20 teams, with Mercedes having been the front runners in recent times, winning seven consecutive constructors’ titles. However, it is Christian Horner’s team who currently boast the world champion, following Max Verstappen’s dramatic title win in 2021 - sealed at a controversial Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

In a new era for F1 though, Ferrari have stormed back into the mix, with Charles Leclerc currently leading the drivers’ standings. McLaren have also shown ambition to challenge for titles again, having tied Lando Norris to a lucrative new long-term contract.

According to a BBC report though, it is Red Bull who will benefit most from this latest development. F1 sources have reportedly claimed that Porsche is lining up an alliance with Horner and co.

Porsche would team up with their engine division, which is currently working towards developing a new power-unit when the regulations change in 2026. The team would officially run as Red Bull-Porsche.

Audi, meanwhile, is said to have had talks with the likes of McLaren, Sauber, Aston Martin and Williams. Regardless, after years of hinting at joining F1, it appears Volkswagen will finally take the plunge.

Last month, their board provisionally approved the notion of Porsche and Audi entering F1, once engine rules were confirmed. And whilst the sport’s bosses have not fully clarified the regulations, they have given major indications over how the hybrid system will be simplified.

The sport currently consists of 20 teams,

Thanks for the article, it's a good read.

They made the same bonehead mistake I made earlier. There are TEN teams, with two cars each. That makes up a 20 car GRID.

Both Porsche and Audi are prioritizing their commitment to top-tier racing from 2026 when the combustion engines will run on fully sustainable synthetic fuel.

https://www.motor1.com/news/583212/porsche-audi-formula-1-official/

This is going to be an interesting transition for F1, they cannot go full electric and the need to stay relevant. Guess the syn fuel companies are pushing this, someone must of figured we reached Peak Battery.

Surprise! Miami F1 Track’s Fake Marina Has Fake Water

The Monaco we have at home.

BY JERRY PEREZ
MAY 3, 2022 10:06 AM

It's easy to take a dump on the stadium parking lot where the 2022 Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix will be held on this weekend. After all, it's a makeshift track built on what's essentially tailgating territory in the shadow of a freaking NFL stadium—making it either the most American track ever or the most un-F1 track ever. You decide. Now, however, what organizers thought would be one of the venue's most glitzy features, has turned out to be a complete joke.

As Sky Sports F1 showed on a tweet early Tuesday morning, the lovely turquoise waters surrounding the fake marina are—drum roll, please—fake! I shouldn't be surprised considering it's a manmade feature on a track built miles away from the coastline, but somehow, I am. I really hope no one gets drunk enough over the weekend to dive off the dock, because that's going to hurt.

As you can see in the video below, it's nothing more than a huge graphic adhered to the ground that makes it look like there's actual water flowing around those strategically positioned boats on one end of the marina. At this point, I'm not even sure if the sand on the infield "beach" on the opposite end of the marina is real. Maybe the sand is also a graphic, or maybe it's sawdust. I don't know. But I can see some beach huts and lounge chairs in the background, so maybe they actually expect people to lounge fake-waterside? Again, it's unclear.

[Twitter Video]

The response to these fake features from fans and reporters alike hasn't been kind. Fans are saying that it's downright "embarrassing" while some reporters who have actually seen this up close say it feels more like an "F1 trade show" than an actual grand prix. Frankly, I can't disagree. With the entertainment factor of F1 races getting turned up to 11 recently, it's evident that more of these situations will arise, especially with Vegas—the capital of showmanship—coming online next year. Personally, I can't wait until 2035 when F1 races on its own version of Mario Kart's Rainbow Road.

Not all is doom and gloom, of course. Several drivers have praised the track's layout—except Yuki Tsunoda—and expect the racing to be fairly good come Sunday. Hopefully, things will be so overwhelmingly positive this weekend that we'll all forget about this fake water and focus on what really matters: the racing.

The Drive will have boots on the ground at the Miami GP this weekend, so make sure to stay tuned for more.

I'm not sure which is more fake, but I do know which is the bigger loser.

The race sold out in minutes. You cannot get a ticket for the Miami GP unless you want to pay an insane amount of $$$
