Anyone already has a fair chance to get there, if they make the cut. Of course there are thousands qualified (at the engineering level) vying for precious few available slots. So most of those who are qualified do not get the job. Boohoo.

I don’t buy into the “racial discrimination” BS here. F1 costs too much to pass on great talent solely based on...”race”.

So yes, affirmative action is *exactly* what Hamilton is DEMANDING. Eff him.

3 more races? Excellent, as we've gone from 8 to now at least 13.

I do like it when so many races are held in Europe, and geographically part of the F1 heritage. (USA and Canada should be included, of course. We were always an early part of motor racing, and involved in open wheel racing from, one suspects, the get go.)

One of the world's most celebrated car races, the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be contested behind closed doors this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, organisers announced on Monday.

The annual endurance test attracted a massive 252,000 fans in 2019 and several movies have been made about the event including the cult 'Le Mans' starring Steve McQueen in 1971.

"Sadly, the world’s greatest endurance race will be run this year with no spectators trackside," Pierre Fillon from the Automobile Club de l’Ouest said on Monday.

"Given the constraints involved in organising a festival-scale event over several days in the current situation, we have opted with the local government authorities to hold the race behind closed doors," he said.

The 88th 24 Hours of Le Mans at the Circuit de la Sarthe will be held as scheduled on 19-20 September, starting at 14:30 local time (1230 GMT).

Unlike Grand Prix racing, which develops the fastest cars, endurance tests such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans are designed to produce sporty but reliable, fuel efficient road vehicles.

McQueen's film "Le Mans" happens to be the absolute worst movie that I've seen four times.

French Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly says his home in Normandy was robbed and ransacked while he was racing in Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix.

The 24-year-old AlphaTauri driver posted a message on Instagram asking anyone with information to get in touch on social media.

Gasly lost expensive engraved watches, racing helmets, clothes and jewellery in the robbery.

He said: “Some people are worthless, disrespectful and contemptible.”.

The Rouen-born driver finished ninth in the race at the Circuit de Catalunya on Sunday.
