This will be a general purpose thread for F1 news and pings that really don't require a thread of their own.
Oh my!
Audi has won Le Mans 13 of the last 15 years.
Now with Mercedes on top with F1, that looks like a cool challenge for Audi to show their stuff there, too.
It certainly would help F1, which is sort of, a little bit, dominated by Mercedes.
But not anywhere near to the extent that Audi has dominated Le Mans.
Fun to watch the Germans slug it out at the world racing level. Too bad American companies aren’t interested in right turns, or truly the highest levels of performance excellence.
I don’t think the US companies sell enough worldwide to even try and fake a payback scenario on a F1 program.
“I dont think the US companies sell enough worldwide to even try and fake a payback scenario on a F1 program.”
Then you might not know that GM sells more Buicks in China, than in the US.
Or that GM has owned Opel for over since 1931.
Or that Volkswagen Auto Group is the 2nd largest auto builder in the world, including their plant in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Or that Fiat purchased Chrysler.
All of the auto makers are international, including Ford, which has perhaps the mostests, in terms of international racing, from LeMans, to F1 engines, etc.
And now we have a truly world class track at Austin, and I would love for F1 to flourish once again, with American fans and vehicles and circuits.
Right turns are a turn on.
Gene Haas may be an American crazy enough to try F1, but I still don’t think you’ll see GM or Ford doing it.
“Gene Haas may be an American crazy enough to try F1, but I still dont think youll see GM or Ford doing it.”
That is unfortunate. We used to supply drivers and engines at least, but now only a new world class track. Time to add back the engines, cars and drivers.
it formed three weeks into the first summer
German Gran Prix 2015
“German Grand Prix will not be ready for F1, says Hockenheim boss”

I say F1 needs some new leadership and new concepts at the top.
Eccleston is past his expire date....
....and the cars are forced to be too complex and costly, as if F1 must solve the worlds energy and pollution issues.
No, put on great demos of the fastest period. Driver safety should not be sacrificed, IMO.
come on bernie, be a guy and die already!
Yeah, Bernie, crap out already and get buried. I’ve had a few beers and my back teeth are floating. I’d like to water the grass on your grave.
Pintos? Those cars were finely crafted high performance cars compared to my '73 Chevy Vega. You know, the one with the aluminum block and steel oil pan that leaked more oil on the parents' driveway than a BP well. If you tried to run the air and came to a stop light, you had to put it in neutral and give it gas so the compressor wouldn't kill the hamster in the little four-cylinder engine. I took a girl on a date, and going around a corner the passenger door flew open, almost ejecting her. She declined to repeat the experience. The car started rusting even before it was driven off the dealer's lot.....
Why do I foam at the mouth and rant about Vegas when you mentioned Pintos? Because my brother had a Pinto. A Pinto wagon. A burnt orange Pinto wagon with a stick.
And I envied him for having the better car.
Bring back the Shark Nose Cars! A great F1 era!
I had a 72 bronze with white strip GT when I got out (discharged)
