The CIT bankruptcy is a huge story. They fund many retailers... Christmas was going to be tough for them anyway with 10% unemployment, now it will be even tougher for stores to get inventory on time. Wow.<<<

From what I am hearing, people will not be shopping for Christmas gifts this year, for the food prices are going up daily.

I know that I have already changed my food shopping lists and you couldn’t buy any less than I was buying.

I've also heard that inventories in stores are VERY low, because last year so very little sold, so retailers have only a certain amount of merchandise available for this holiday season, and some retailers have already started special holiday sales. Yet, I believe in some specialty magazines I saw some experts being quoted as saying that they can tell that a certain percentage of the population is having "Frugality Fatigue" - and they are starting to leave generic store brands and beans & rice & staples in favor of more expensive brand name foods.

THAT was really hard for me to imagine. I mean... really, in the stores -- aisle after aisle after aisle -- basic items are all noticably higher in price.
