Though frequently quoted, Mark Twain probably didnt say the coldest winter he ever spent was July in San Francisco. But someone did.
No one would mistake Lincoln for San Francisco. Its not that foggy.
But this July is proving to be one of the coolest on record in both Lincoln and Omaha.
On average, the temperature reaches 90 degrees or higher at least 15 days in July in Lincoln. So far this July: once. The best chance for 90 this week is Friday. Mondays high was only 75.
Omaha has yet to reach 90 this month.
Lincoln set record lows Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings, at 49, 50 and 51 degrees, respectively. The temperature hadnt fallen to 49 degrees in July in Lincoln since 2004. Record lows also were set during the weekend in Omaha and several other towns; Saturdays low at Valentine was 46.
The average temperature so far this month in Lincoln is 73.6 degrees, a full 4 degrees below normal. If that average holds for the rest of the month, well almost edge into the 10 coldest Julys on record. The coldest average temperature in July was 71.1 degrees in 1891.
Upper 50s here last night and that’s warmer than it has been.
Time to get the CO2 in the air, or we’re all gonna freeze to death!
July one of the coolest on record
Al Gore: COOLEST?!?! It should have been the warmest month of the year!
New Hampshire hit 90 one day in May and has not seen it since. I did not swim in my pool this year until July 5th.
We also received about 9-10” of rain in June.
I have yet to turn on the ceiling fans in my house.
I enjoy saying “I don’t know how much more global warming I can take!” whenever I am around a group of people. So far, I have yet to meet one person who actually believes it is real.
Here in Warrenton VA, great weather for July...
If this is GLOBAL WARMING, SIGN ME UP FOR MORE
Maybe since OB is doing ALL the talking the HOT AIR that usually comes from the Congress is not reaching the masses, causing some pleasant weather...
That’s weather. Cool in one place and hot in the other.
The weather here in Southwest Ohio has been more like September and October than July. Cool and very wet. I can’t keep up with the grass this year!
My wife and I really enjoy hot summers so we are really hating the weather...
I’m loving the weather this summer in Tidewater VA. I can count on one hand the number of days in the 90’s with high humidity. The air has been very pleasantly dry and the temps have been in the low to mid 80’s most of the time. It’s almost like summer in New England. It’s normally so hot and humid by now...on a daily basis...that IU can’t breathe outdoors. Not this summer! Go to hell Al Gore...I hear it’s still hot there.
We’ll trade’ya!! Here in San Antonio, we’ve had a high pressure system overhead for the past couple of weeks keeping the temps in the low 100s and extending the drought.
Hi, xrmusn, I'm in Warrenton also. You're right that it has been an exceptionally pleasant summer.
Not limiting greenhouse gas emissions will lead to more severe flooding, drought, storms and much cooler summers (sarc)
I have been enjoying the more comfortable temperatures.
Al's global warming is very cool cold.
just 2 or 3 days so far here in Nebraska over 90, very unusual.
Then again, a cool summer may indicate a cold winter, especially since the sun is still not showing any sunspots.
