Leaving steroids out of it, this is another reason why you can't compare players in this generation to players in the post-70s era. So much more was demanded of the players back then, especially pitchers.

Steroids aside, today’s player work out all off-seaon. during gibson’s time they all had off-season jobs and got in shape during spring training. Today, all these guys working out off-season end up on the DL! What up wit dat?
