There is lots of material in the time line that is very helpful in establishing what happened in the period. But the primary support for one of the more important elements (" Aug 1961 -- Sighting by Susan Blake in late-August on Mercer Island, Seattle (Obama Jr reportedly 3 weeks old) -- SHE'S TRAVELING FROM HAWAII TO SEATTLE, in 1961, WITH A 3-WK-OLD, only to ship the baby BACK to start classes in Seattle? Highly doubtful ...") is a misunderstanding about the class schedule at the University of Washington together with a mistatement by Susan Blake.
First place, Blake puts the event into late August with Barack 3 weeks old. But she says Stanley Ann had not yet learned to change diapers. Mothers change diapers from day two or three which is when I believe this event happened--on August 5-6 maybe. Remember, there is an additional day between August 4 in Mombassa and August 4 in Seattle.
And on the real record, there isn't anything in the transcript which lends any evidence as to when she was in class--fall quarter particularly, people were coming and going and re-registering for classes and the real schedule didn't start until the second week of the quarter.
And the official start of Fall Quarter at the University of Washington and the first day of scheduled classes in 1961 was the last day or so of September, maybe two months after the Susan Blake event.
And I don't see any reason she would have gone to Canada--lots of other remote locations she could have had the kid without much of a record.
At some point, Barack himself is quoted as saying she was in Nariobi 72 hours before he was born. You have the second hand hearsay about her being pregnant and rejected for boarding by BOAC; and the exact BOAC schedules for August of 1961 are posted fairly early on the long thread--the way back to Hawaii from Nariobi was through (Vancouver BC--to) Seattle.
That is, I know, as speculative a schedule as everything else but given volume of other quasi evidence (and hearsay) about people in Africa who were present at his birth; about his birth at Coast Hospital in Mombasa where they intend to erect a monument; and about an actual brith certificate from British records showing his birth there, the Kenya birth location and timeline are far more pursuasive.
The one real gap in BP2's timeline that really sticks out is the period from January 1961 (end of fall semester at U of H) and August of 1961 where she isn't seen anywhere by anybody; there isn't any record anywhere of her legal marriage in Hawaii; under circumstances where there is a conclusive legal reason to have been in Kenya (where marriage would not have constituted the crime of bigamy) testifies as to where she wasn't.
Further, the Chicago Tribune article has Obama Sr.'s first wife describing how she met and became great friends and developed a close relationship with Stanley Ann (before she ever saw her in Chicago)--when did that happen? When did Sarah get involved with baby Barack if it wasn't when he was born--as she says in the news article?

One would think if she had traveled to Kenya, after returning to Hawaii / Washington she would have been eager to regale friends with accounts and pictures, etc. Some of those friends would remember. "Oh, yeah. Stanley Ann! Did you know she's been in Africa for the last six months with that black dude she married?"
Because the family had contacts in nearby Seattle? Plus Stanley Ann herself had many friends living in the area, since she had graduated from Mercer Island High School.
If she was supposed to give the baby up for adoption, Canada would at that time have been a much better spot for a mixed race baby to be adopted by a "good" family, than the US would have been.
All the "paper work" of getting admitted to U Washington would have already been completed before August '61, so why not stay there with the baby. Might have also been part of a "sham marriage" deal with BHO Sr. It's pretty apparent that she never lived with him after BHO Jr. was born, and perhaps not before either.
