Procter???
Dynamics final exam.
Very gently.
A: Why not?
Please, at least misspell it correctly - sheesh! /smile
Complicated issue. Personally, I would put the break between modernity and the medievalists before Erasmus and the Reformers...and put them into the next course in the series. But noting where historical epochs begin and end is (obviously) a matter of interpretation.
Was this an undergrad course? Or grad/sem level?
Damn! I thought I knew that one!
On one occasion a student burst into his office. “Professor Stigler, I don’t believe I deserve this F you’ve given me.” To which Stigler replied, “I agree, but unfortunately it is the lowest grade the University will allow me to award.”
I thought the Proff was joking when he said I didn't have to take the final. But when I showed up for it he sent me home telling me the same thing he said to your friend; he knew I would get an A.
I think that the question also wanted the student to explain how modern theologians differed from medieval thought.
Actually, the question would not be that difficult to students who took a survey of religious philosophy class. It was a required freshman course where I went to school, religion 101. It was difficult only because most of us were too young to understand that level of thought. It requires a some maturity.
Undergrad
outstanding....
My contracts class had 3 hypotheticals all about 10 pages apiece. Nothing quite as disheartening as when your test makes an audible thud when it lands on your desk.
I was in college when new math began. To complete my degree, my adviser enrolled me in “Algebraic Principles of New Math”. I could easily relate to the concept of “sets” as that used to be expressed as adding “apples and oranges”, but what gave me a lot of trouble were the 21 steps (as I recall) in proving that 1 is greater than 0. That should have been a clue that civilization was heading into the dumper.
