WWe can waste our energies debating the prospects of future leaders or we can raise hell with representatives and functionaries we have today.

Which do we think will stop Cap-and-Crap and Socialized Medicine in the weeks ahead.

It is like the BCS. Does Marshall University have a chance to make the National Championship game ? NO...Unfortunately, you need a lot of money to run for President.

she needed to get out of Alaska, make some money and take control of her image.

“You might be right. OTOH, having the nickname “The Swimmer” has not seemed to really hurt Ted Kennedy in any substantive way.”

It’s why he never ran for President. With that kind of baggage one get elected via to a provincial post via brute force political machine, but as a national candidate it is non starter.

No need to grieve. She is just starting and has now jumped in with both feet.

She is going to speak conservative issues and values all over this country and gain personal politcal capital. Then, she is going to support conservative candidates in 2010 and help them win and gain more political capital. Then she is going to take all of that and apply it in an awesome run for the White House in 2012.

...and she will have my complete support in so doing.

Others clearly disagree. Time and a lot of rolled up sleeves and good old fashioned work at the local level will tell the story. But I will give my all to that effort as long as it lasts.

"too many voluntarily ignore the ugly realities of politics and put their faith in Hail Mary passes, and frankly, are just too lazy for the time and effort needed to bring this country back.."

Lazy? Bite me, pal. Maybe some have moved beyond the vested interests of your wholesale politics.

“national candidates” are those who can draw BOTH crowds and money. Palin can do both. Romney might bring in money but I dont know anyone who would sit in traffic 4 hours to see him speak.

As far as “hanging the label of quitter around her neck”... LOL. She’s been called worse. As has her baby and other children.

Her first national campaign should be against the sewer that calls itself American journalism. Bring it on.

If she mounts a 24/7 bash Obama campaign then I will think it is a good thing she resigned.

Somehow you’ve managed to transmogrify Governor Palin’s resignation into a story about you. Swell.

Yup, utter horsesh!t. Take this line as one example:

“Sarah is now unelectable on a national stage. The ‘quitter’ specter will hang around her neck like ‘swimmer’ does to Ted Kennedy.”

Yeah, because that “swimmer” tag sure has been Kennedy from getting elected. Uh huh.

Didn’t even bother reading past that...

If you are right, and I'm not saying you are, time is running out to start picking who we want as our next President.

The RATS never stop campaigning - so we need to join the fray ASAP.

What's your plan for a winner?????????????

I agree. I think her move was an obvious jump away from elective office for good, but I do think she can do more for conservatives as a fundraiser and advocate.

If I accept your premise then we may as well fold our tents and go home because there will be no electable conservatives in your future or mine.

Fortunately, I do not accept your premise.

It forced Ted to drop out of the 1980 Democrat primary.

No it didn't. It was his interview with Roger Mudd that did it - the one where he responded incoherently when Mudd asked him why he wanted to be President.
