I hate MacAfee. I had their service until they kept billing my credit card account multiple times without my authorization. I had to go through hell to get the charges reversed and get them to stop. That company and their customer support are BAD NEWS. Beware!
I think I had some variant of that April 1 worm back in Dec & Jan (yes, twice). Although I had to deal a rep in India, my problem was fixed remotely. It was deep and vicious and even with the McAfee plan, still cost me money, but I can’t complain about the work they did.
I only found out recently that my university gives us Norton for free. I put it on my laptops, but once my McAfee subscription runs out, I might should change to Norton.
Yeah, McAfee is a piece-o-crap anyway. Thanks for posting about the bogus CC autocharges. I had a client that reported this and wondered how common it was.
Will be interesting to see if the reported U.K. problem soon manifests itself on this side of the pond.
