In 1994 I bought a REAL derelict property for $5,000.

We were tearing out the walls when two packets of $100 bills from back in the 1950’s fell out of the wall.

I went to a coin dealer to see if they had any value above face, and no they didn't.

Your son knows that junk silver (something real) is always worth more than paper.

Article 1 section 2 of the US Constitution: “Congress shall make nothing other than gold and silver legal tender in payment of debt.”

What do we have now? Greenies.

Sorry I was wrong:

Section 10. No state shall enter into any treaty, alliance, or confederation; grant letters of marque and reprisal; coin money; emit bills of credit; make anything but gold and silver coin a tender in payment of debts.

My son that garage sales (son#3) has also been a coin collector since he was 12. He knows gold and silver at garage sales and has done alright collecting it from them...The son that had the coins fall out of the wall (son#2) is also a coin collector...He figured the face value at ( I am not sure of this number ) around 180 dollars but silver value at almost 2000 dollars...

I always said garage sales are just another treasure hunt for the ordinary person...When I used to sell on ebay I bought a White Castle mug at an estate sale for a buck...It looked different than most of those mugs listed...It was rare and ended up selling for 300 dollars...

I don't do ebay anymore but have 3 kids that still sell on it...

Hi again Those bills from the 1950's would have been silver certificates and depending on the bill might have been worth more than face value to a collector...But then again maybe not...I would have investigated it further...

I'll bet it was hoot to find those bills...
