SHAME ON FOX NEWS! ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!
06-25-09 | MJ Rackley

Posted on 06/25/2009 4:39:41 PM PDT by nfldgirl

Okay...if I'm off-base, then flame me. But DH and I are fuming this evening to come home from work to learn that Fox News spent the 6-7 PM NEWS hour with Shep Smith crying over Michael Jackson. UN-FRICKIN-BELIEVABLE! There is so much crap going on in this country, the world, the economy, 10% unemployment, Congress/Obama getting ready to shove cap-n-trade down our throats, he and the big-she having a laeuiu at the Whie House...what in the hell is going on! The whole damn world is in fire! I'm so ticked off to not hear the Bret Baer news hour....what a frickin joke on the part of Fox News! And they want to be taken seriously?! Geesh! Enough already!

but in twenty years no one will be playing his music.

hahahahaha! we just had a party where 100 people showed up... we played old MJ music during one segment--from his 1979 Off the Wall album... everyone from teenagers to those in their 60's got up to dance to the medley...

"everyone"

If there was enough liquor, they'd probably dance to a dog licking his food dish.

Your right, Rip away. I'm with you on this one.

Never could stand that thing (jackson), except when he was a little black boy, he was cute and talented. Then he turned himself into a freak in all ways.

I think he was jealous of his sister LaToya, and he tried to become as beautiful as she. He had the voice of a girl that's for sure.

I was just opioning on how many threads there were on FreeRepublic. Seems like too many, the rest are probably the IDOL worshiping crowd.

Day two and it is all Michael Jackson. The real issues that should be the big story go on without even so much as a mention. I’m sick of this!

“Now what?” you ask? A lot of very nice people with very bad taste in music, that’s what.

I certainly didn't hate or dislike Jackson. At least before he started molesting little kids. It's just that he had a high-pitched, immature voice, and his music was directed mostly at sub-teens and adolescents. I was in my twenties when the Jackson Five became famous. The major rock periodicals never discussed his music as being anything more than kids entertainment. Their songs were never compared with the best of rhythm and blues (disagreeing with Mark Steyn here) much less the best rock groups and performers like the Beatles, the Stones, Dylan, etal. Nobody in my group listened to or paid any attention to the Jackson Five. Their music was considered slightly better than the Osmonds.

When he became older obviously a lot of his appeal was based on his dancing. Dancing stars have always left me cold. Your music is either interesting or it isn't. His wasn't. (And neither is Madonna's, to pick another popular dancing, musical mediocrity). And as for popular appeal attracting millions, that has never affected my opinion about performers one whit. The fact that, like the immense popularity of rap, that some performer is adored by millions or billions doesn't cut any ice with me. Obama is adored by billions, and so what?

really? you know that because we know good dance music when they hear it? let's see, we played music by Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, The Beach Boys, War, Sly and the Family Stone, Bobby Darrin, Gloria Estefan, Smokey Robinson, Perez Prado, Johnny Mathis, Tom Jones, The Platters, The Supremes, The Commodores, The Big Bopper, Vicente Fernandez, Patti LeBelle, Don Ho, Barbara Lewis, Jackie Wilson, Wilson Pickett, Cameo, The Gap Band, Cher, Barry White, The Isley Brothers, Donovan, Terry Stafford, Elvis Presley, Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs, The Chantels, Sarah Vaughn, Dean Martin and many others... yes--i guess one could say we have very bad taste in music...

we are family that also enjoys music by Louis Armstrong, Eartha Kitt, Rosemary Clooney, Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald and Paolo Conte... as well as Bach, Handel, Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovksy, Schubert, Vivaldi, Haydn, Liset and Wagner...

our boys, ages 8 and 13, know all of this music

you have misprinted... people will be listening to MJ's music 20 years from now... how silly to think they won't...

Complaint e-mails filled with invective and CAPS are almost always ignored. Just so you know.

Jackson’s best songs have already endured for about 30 years and there’s no reason they won’t last another 30. As for being a middling talent...Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly thought he was a terrific dancer and everyone admired his singing versatile singing voice.

I meant in the context of huge corporations getting emails like that. However on a message board there’s nothing like invective and caps to get people going.
