Back in the good old 1960s, one of the Soviet back-of-the-Moon photos appeared to show a megalithic type arrangement. I remember seeing the shot in one of those cool men’s mags, “Argosy” or “True”. Of course, the US has made complete surveys of the lunar surface and, regarding that supposed structure — bupkis. In the mid-1970s a book came out claiming that there was industrial activity on the lunar surface, on a large scale. I remember looking through the all-important photo section and saw, shockingly, photo after unremarkable photo of the surface of the Moon, with superimposed arrows pointing to absolutely nothin’, and captions like “half-mile long earthmoving machine excavating in the such-and-such crater”. ;’)

I have considered Kzin type aliens who don't like artificially produced food, but I think that would be a stretch...
