'I lied about tattoo blunder because my father was furious': girl with 56 stars on face comes clean

A teenage girl who claimed 56 stars were tattooed on her face as she slept when she'd only asked for three has admitted she was awake the whole time - and lied because her father was 'furious'.

Belgian Kimberley Vlaminck said last week she woke up in horror to find her face covered in the stars of various sizes which spread out over the left-hand side of her head.

She went on to blame the Flemish-speaking tattooist for not being able to understand her French and English instructions.

I was lying: Kimberley Vlaminck originally claimed she had only asked for three star tattoos but ended up with 56 after she fell asleep

Amid a frenzy of media attention, she then vowed to sue tattoo artist Rouslan Toumaniantz for the £9,000 she needs for laser surgery to have them removed.

She said after the tattooing: 'It is terrible for me. I cannot go out on to the street. I look like a freak.'

But the 18-year-old has finally confessed she did not fall asleep, that she wanted all the stars and was 'fully aware' of what Toumaniantz was doing.

Tattoo artist Rouslan Toumaniantz had originally said he would pay for half of the laser treatment Vlaminck needs to have the stars removed

I have a scar by my eye from my aunt’s dog biting when I got too close to her. Another scar right by my hairline from a bottle of Pledge that was left on a table, and I happened to be laying down right at the best spot for it to hit my head.

Another scar or two from a bike pedal impacting my shin.

How successful is tattoo removal?

It depends on the color of the ink, where it is located, the color of the person's skin etc. It's a lot better now than it used to be, but removing dark tattoos from the face of a fair-skinned person (as in this case) is probably the toughest.

I was just curious, I don't have any tattoo's. My 74 year old husband has one on each arm left over from his time in the USCG. They are the worst looking things you have ever seen. Some of these kids need to see what an old tattoo looks like before they get one.

Tattoos can be bought. Scars have to be earned.

Some people buy their scars ... but I know what you mean.

You and me both.

I quit frequenting Amy's Ice Cream here in the Austin area because of the fear of contracting hepatitis from the mutilated freaks working in the place.

I prefer seeing restaurant workers who are hard working Mexicans than to see some local tattoo'd and mutilated walking biohazard freak serving me. An even more repulsive trend is bull dikes getting tattoo'd and mutilated. I see lots of them here in Austin.

Bull dikes are already too hard to look at without the mutilations.

In 1982 I saw my first Auschwitz tattoo. The old man who had it on his left forearm asked me to never tattoo my self, in his honor, I NEVER will.

I gotta say, with the jeans and shorts I like to wear, you can usually see my piercing. And it’s super-cute!

It's unfair to post a statement like that and not back it up with a super-cute photo.

Just sayin'!

Some of these kids need to see what an old tattoo looks like before they get one.

It's my understanding that modern inks and tattoo equipment lead to a lot less fading over time than the old ones. Anyone getting a tattoo should make sure to go to the more reputable shops. This isn't something you want to skimp on to save a few bucks.

My father once told me shortly before I left for USAF basic training that if I was inclined to get a tattoo, I had better be inclined not to let him see it.

My father was a WWII pilot, and he always said only slimy types and drunks let themselves be marked up voluntarily.

I was never inclined to get marked up or have small holes punched in my body. I understand that it's currently a fad, but I have seen old guy with tats that look really bad. I wonder if all these young folks understand that there will come a day that they will regret having it done.

That was so low of her to lie.

You would be surprised how many innocent men are in prison because a woman claimed they were raped by them.

I remember a case in Ohio 25 years ago where a guy sat in prison for 12 years because a young girl was out past her curfew and made up a rape claim to escape punishment from her strict father.

I'm no genius, that's for sure. But the "what will it look like years from now" is precisely the things that come to my mind when "thinking" of getting a tattoo.

I had friend upon friend get tattoos when I was just out of high school (back then, people waited until after they finished to mutilate themselves). I'm ever so glad I remain tattoo free.

Although it doesn't take long for tattoos to start looking like crap, it would be a good idea for people to see books of naked old people with tattoos before getting their first one. That is a service the tattoo parlors would never agree to.

"How successful is tattoo removal?" Unless there are new technologies that are better than what I have seen, it is impossible, unless the judge is Stevie Wonder.

One of my reps had her barb wire tattoo removed from around her bicep. It was not too bad but you could tell the skin was disturbed. Looked sort of like a 20 year old burn scarn

By fading I am assuming you mean getting lighter, that is not what has happened. His tattoos appear to have run outside the lines and you can no longer even tell what they were originally. He has 2 dark blue black ink blots on his arms now.
