ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A young woman who worked at a Denny's Restaurant on Albuquerque's West Side was killed Saturday morning during what police describe as a takeover-style robbery, and officers are still searching for suspects.
Police by mid-afternoon Saturday detained two possible suspects from the 10 a.m. robbery at the Denny's on Coors Boulevard at Iliff Road NW.
"Four masked men came in with guns," Brian Thompson told News 13. "Two went toward the back. That's all we could see because we all hit the ground."
Albuquerque police spokeswoman Nadine Hamby said witnesses told police they saw between two and six suspects.
She said police are interviewing at least 100 people to piece together what happened.

My heart goes out to the young woman working at Denny's that was murdered and condolences to her family.
There were almost 100 people eating there - parents with children that are likely traumatized now.
Comrade Marty and King Bill have a lot to answer for because our state and city are sanctuaries for illegals. Anytime it's made against the law to detain people "just" for being illegal there are going to be problems.
This is just the most recent of many, the others being crime, hit and runs, drunk driving with the resultant accidents and injuries and many more.
How would you feel Marty and Bill if this young woman were a member of your family and murdered by an illegal from South America?
Not sure if everyone on your pings list is aware of this - thought I’d post it just in case. I’m so steamed over this. That could have been any of us eating in there and it’s because of the idiots running our state and our city. *sigh* Enough - I’m climbing off my soapbox.

The 2 they caught are from South America and since they won’t give their names and are being known as John Doe 1 & 2 I’d say so. The report I heard leaned heavily into that area but didn’t say without a doubt.
The 2 that are still at large live (they think) in an area known as Little Tijuana...
Also, this seems to have been “big news”. There was a link to a story about it on CNN and even in a UK newspaper. Maybe it caught people’s eye because it happened at a Denny’s, I’m not sure.
Right next to that Denny’s is a Village Inn ....my daughter and I went there Thursday night. As we were going in my daughter said she thought that was the place someone was shot and killed....I assume she was talking about within the last year. I knew nothing about it ... does anyone else ? I hope she wasnt having visions of the future.
I don’t know anything about that and I searched pretty extensively on the web looking for info on anything happening at the Village Inn there.
Your daughter could be clairvoyant. I’d get her a Magic 8 ball and find out.

We live in an (almost) crime free type neighborhood, a golfing community.
This guy was armed and told the young girl she had 20 seconds to open the cash register.
She was too shaken ....
...and was in the middle of another transaction
.. and the quick thinking of another salesgirl
..who immediately shut down the first transaction...
..opened the register
.and scooped out all the money....probably saved their lives.
This store is in a very nice housing community w/churches, schools....a busy beehive of a place.
And this guy ...with a bandana over his face....brazenly walks in holding a gun!!!!
He got away!!!!!!!!!!!...and yes, they have surveillance pictures....

I didn’t hear the show. I haven’t seen anything new yet.
I heard a bit of Darren’s show on Saturday. Since the show airs in the early afternoon, he didn’t have any more information than any other news outlet. But, he did take calls from several people who are upset about the injustice of the NM justice system — violent criminals receiving minimum sentences, etc.

The gang, MS-13, is made up of mostly El Salvadoran immigrants, and Saturday's holdup was one of the few times authorities have seen a member in New Mexico.
Pablo Ortiz, 32, had the El Salvador country code "503" shaved into the back of head when police arrested him in connection with the robbery. The country code is commonly worn by members of the gang.
When he was booked into jail, Ortiz told correctional officers he was from El Salvador.

Thanks for that update Dave. Pretty frightening considering there’s never just 1 gang member. They’re like cockroaches ~ if you see one there’s usally a lot you aren’t seeing. Since they’re supposed to be one of the most violent and ruthless gangs out there I sincerely hope they aren’t now moving into ABQ.
If there were four armed guys at work, a single guy/gal with concealed carry would be dicey, to say the least.
Does anyone have a sequence of events that happened there?

Sequence of events from what I can understand is that they 4 armed men came in, ordered people on the floor, demanded the waitress open the cash register and she got the manager to open it.
One slipped somehow and details vary here, 1 person said the female victim said something about it, another person said she was running away toward the back and eventually ran out of places to run to which is when she was shot.
