The advantages of having money. Not everybody could buy a house and move to another state just to get on a shorter transpant list.
Actually, just about anyone could do that.
It's the new Steve Jobs wing of the hospital where he got his transplant that will open up in a few years that represents what the little guy typically can't do. :-)
Just think.....
When ObamaCare comes online, there will be enough livers, hearts, etc for EVERYONE!
Having someone else pay for things, solves everything.
Why not? Furthermore, we don't know whether he ultimately received the transplant from a live donor.
It’s a national list and local medical transplant staffs determine who gets placed on the list. Psych profiles, life style, family support and medical compliance are important placement factors.
However, there is only one liver for every four people on the list. Once placed, the criteria for transplant is degree of sickness. The system may be gamed, but IMHO (having worked in liver transplant), many of the transplant profesionals are very concerned about ethics and fairness.
Transplant waiting list? The Steven Jobs. You’ve got to be kidding.
You said — The advantages of having money. Not everybody could buy a house and move to another state just to get on a shorter transpant list.

Ummmm.., it’s more like — “Not everyone has the advantage of having rumors written about them that are not true...” LOL...
The press seems to be delightfully engaging in rumors without facts and without attributing those rumors to real and factual sources... :-)
