Comfery is a (an?) herb that has medicinal properties that may be of benefit in bone healing and inflammation lessening. I did a bit of internet research on it.

We had a tree down just one block west. One of the old silver maples snapped at the ground. It actually fell between two house. Broke the chimney, stripped gutter and dinged the roof. But, it was a glancing impact, not a direct hit.

Comfrey, Symphytum officinale.

It's related to bee borage, one of its folk names is "knitbone" - you use it as a compress (never internally 'cause it's poisonous).

Any herb with "officinale" or "officinalis" in its name has a long history of use in medicine, because that means that it appeared in one of the old herbals before Linnaeus got his classification system together.

The problem with comfrey, though, is getting it to STOP growing. It's an invasive weed to most folks, and it's best to grow it in pots or in a raised bed, and DON'T put it on the compost pile!

Please explain what comfrey is

I sent an e-mail to a friend on Roan Mt yesterday morning and she's not only got some tincture of comfrey that she bought, she has plants that she's going to give us so we can plant them.
