Lived in CT for a number of years. UPS use to have their corporate headquarters in Greenwich, CT and in the early 1980’s moved corporate to the Atlanta area. The main reason was cost of living for employees. UPS was having difficulty recruiting promising young execs to move to CT. Homes in the immediate area are outrageously expensive, so long commutes for management & staff were the norm. This discouraged employees of UPS from transferring (even with a promotion) to Greenwich. UPS, with I'm sure a good tax incentive from GA, packed up and moved south ... problem solved.

And this idiot wants to be the next Senator from Ohio.

Of course he does. They won't be satisfied until the last private sector job leaves the Rust Belt.

How many other corporations will simply avoid “looter states”? Rush left new york with ease. NCR leaves Ohio.

Michigan is forced to air funny commercials BEGGING for companies to move there.

It seems the boycot of the looter taxation is in full blossom.

I realize that this stunning news--NCR used to be the strength of Dayton, at least up until the decline in the City set in about 50 years ago--was primarily triggered by tax policy and other incentives. But there is a longer-term problem, here, which certainly was a factor. And that is the decline in real community identification with many major Corporations.

There was a time, when NCR would have been seen as a good Corporate citizen of our northern neighbor. (Dayton is a mere 54 miles from downtown Cincinnati, yet closer to our northern neighborhoods.)

As an Ohioan, I am disturbed, yet not really surprised.

I live in Dayton and have watched NCR gradually go away for many years. What is there on Brown St. is a small portion of what was there when I was a young worker. Very sad. Last one out of Dayton, please turn out the lights.

Or kicking your best friend in the balls then sleeping with his wife and wondering why he doesn't want to be your friend any longer.

In Atlanta?!

It's moving to Georgia, not Atlanta.

I’ve lived in Michigan for 70 years, Michigan will never learn. Its been going down hill since the 60’s and now is one of the worst in the country..When they elected Republicans as governor, they were all Rino’s...

You’re the only person on this thread who’s said “Atlanta,” in the form of a question, twice.

Perhaps your family member should find employment elsewhere.

In this economy we are grateful he has a job. He got this job after being unemployed for 11 months. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not ungrateful, however, he works 10 - 15 hours off the clock because CE’s are expected to do a lot of their work before and after shift and are not allowed to charge overtime for it. NCR just settled a class action lawsuit pertaining to this and it continues to be ongoing. As I said, grateful for the job, but I never believed in unionizing until now, though DH would never vote for it.

Oh yeah, do you think LeBron will stay in Cleveland?

LeBron engineered the Chinese purchase of 15% of the Cavaliers. As we all know, he will be a free agent after next year, as will Yao Ming.

Watch for Yao and Lebron to lead the Cavs to the championship in 2011.

That’s what they get for being a forced union state.

Heads up, the industrial base didn’t evaporate.

It moved to the south and is alive and well, thank you very much.
