The likelihood is that the read head is damaged. You won’t know until you’ve removed the player from the PC, disassembled the player, removed all traces of the CD, reassembled the player, and replaced it into the PC. It may work and it may give you faulty reads too.

Like Blood of Tyrants said - just buy a new player...

If it ate one CD, chances are it will eat the next one too. Replace it.
