I know. Its sad that people can’t look for another way to deal with a beautiful bird then to kill it with a bat. More sad that so many people enjoy the fact she did it IMHO.
It sounds like she'd been complaining for some time about the peacocks. I can see being frustrated when no one will take care of the problem.
As for hitting it with a bat... if I were to try to "take one out" myself, I'm not sure how else I could do it. A gun probably isn't allowed in a residential area.
Maybe she didn’t call the right people. I believe that she was annoyed by it. However you don’t just kill something that annoys you. You get together with the other neighbors & you take the steps to correct the problem. I don’t buy into the nobody would do anything stuff. Peacocks aren’t cheap & somebody would have taken it. If it bothered her that much she could have called animal control. And if she put up with it for years ,shame on her. She should have moved. I have a huge Heron that is raiding my koi pond. I don’t kill the darn bird, I net my pond. I have sprayed it with the hose but I sure wouldn’t bat that darn thing. If I did anything to it, I would be jailed asap. They are protected, so I deal with my fish stolen & net the pond. That Heron would attack me if it could I think.
I live in Hawaii, I know what she’s talking about, although I never killed one. We used to have one living on our street and it would squawk terribly loudly at all hours and follow our toddlers around the street, feathers all fanned out and trembling w/passion for our kids! It was scary. And don’t get me started on the pooh. They are quite beautiful but so what, there can be too much of a good thing!
I hunt, I raise animals for food and butcher myself. But, what you wrote about killing a bird real slow is not funny, it is sick. I would not allow someone like you on my property or to share space around me.
Ethics and morality mean something, cruelty and perversion also mean something mamelukesabre...you should be ashamed of yourself.
It was like that in our campground. Roosters, chickens & peacocks all over. First summer there I would wake up wondering who or what was yelling what sounded like help. The owner was a bird nut. We finally got him to cage most of the peacocks & got used to the noise. He would thin out the roosters & chickens from time to time. I hated the poop & learned to always have flip flops on. I think the roosters were more evil. They would chase my dogs. We also had wild turkeys,deer, geese, foxes & coyotes. Neither the foxes nor the coyotes got the peacocks. When the bears started to come around we left.

No doubt that I agree with you on that. There are many more prudent ways that the issue could have been taken care of. I am not advocating at all for the beating of a live animal. I just don’t agree with the “should be locked up” statement. Then again even that would have to be dependent on the whole outcome of it. Like three days and a fine or five years. Sorry, don’t get me wrong I am an animal lover. I just get tired of hearing of the “atrocities” of the Michael Vick types, but rapists and murderers are getting plea deals. I have no doubt that what Vick did was despicable and he needed to be punished, but I guess I get overly......sensitive.......for lack of a better term, when it comes to this issue. Worked at a prison for a year and half and alot of times the criminals are let off too easy. Until we get that straightened out I can’t hear about an animal and that “atrocity.” Sorry, off soapbox now.
The neighbors were probably watching the situation...to see which nutcase was actually beating the birds to death.
She is perfectly proud of her actions, so she is either "losing it" mentally; or has retired there from a place where this type of trashy behavior is acceptable.
Judging from the video, I'm going with the latter.

There was a peacock in my neighborhood when I was a kid. This was in a residential area in a fairly large city. We could hear that thing crying quite often. Every once in a while it would get loose and come walking down our street and freak people out.
When people kill animals & when they are children it shows a tendency toward antisocial behavior. Many serial killers started killing animals first, as I am sure you are aware, having worked in a prison... I know plenty of people who have killed animals. I’ve worked for shelters & been a vet tech. I’ve seen the kooks who abuse animals & most of the time they have mental problems of some kind or are violent people. Rapists & murders get off far too easily, I don’t like plea deals either. I am for the death penalty myself.
I didn’t watch the video. I have seen enough animal abuse to last me forever....What I don’t understand is why people seem to think it is fine to bat a bird. There are ways to deal with unwanted or bothersome animals/birds. I would be worried to live where birds were being killed by a kook. I would wonder if my kids were safe or if one day I was making too much noise & got the bat next.
