In Saudi we civilian contractors had a great working relationship with the USAF. The commander of the training mission was having his going away party. A friend and I chipped in together on getting him some presents, one was a set of Saudi driving glasses ( a blindfold from Saudia Airlines ) and another was an Azan clock, very similar to the one Couric had there. They're not really good gifts to those who never lived in a Muslim country as they're really cheaply made.
We showed up the night before the party to help with some set up details and brought the wrapped presents by. We also made sure the clock was running and screeching out prayer calls. Our intent was to have it go off when he opened it the next evening. That didn't work but he did tell us he kept hearing a strange noises and wondering where they were coming from. He loved it.

If I was muslim, I would marry her and beat her with a stick... alot... cause that’s legal.
Maybe a cane pole and a burka would be more appropriate.
Just a minor hair split but it’s not called a burka in Saudi, it’s called an abaya. Same thing just a different name. The way Couric was dressed was OK for the Saudi big cities but not in the smaller towns. She would had to cover her hair completely but not wear a veil.
Better get her a Habib Scarf to cover her head or the Islamics will Stone her to death if she goes inside a real Mosque.
