You know it really amazes me how our scientific community can say something is 200,000 years old when carbon dating can only go back 50,000 years? Why oh why can’t people just believe what the Bible says about the earth being 6,000 years old and go from there I’ll never know.

Carbon dating isn't the only method of radioactive dating. It's used only for rather recent fossils and artifacts.

The article does not mention what form or technique was used to date the hair. What's more, there are other forms of radiometric dating aside from the radiocarbon sort, including uranium-lead dating and potassium-argon dating.

“why can’t people just believe what the Bible says about the earth being 6,000 years old and go from there I’ll never know.” ................................... Its a very simple answer, they just don’t believe it. Its like you not believing it was 200,000 years, or that the Koran is not the word of God. I see it as science trying to find an answer to a very difficult question that does not have a simple answer. Some people can not accept a simple answer, they want an in depth study. Whether or not the nomadic tribes of the dessert came up with the answer over 4000 years ago remains to be seen, but you can believe it if you are accepting their beliefs. Let the scientists continue their research, I’m still interested in the discovery of clam shells in the Alps, the newly discovered planets and galaxies, and the finding of ancient civilizations (They keep popping up, no mention of some of them until recently.).

Think what else they’d have to believe. . .that they are sinners, in need of a Savior, etc. It’s not our nature to accept that.

Yeah. Remember when the church arrested people for saying the earth circles the sun, rather than vice versa?

I call it using all of the faculties God gave us.

The Bible doesn't say that, Bishop Usher did.

Said nothing about carbon dating; nor any other similar method. May have just been from geological dating.

There are many other dating methods than just carbon 14.

I'm among the most devout Christians you will ever meet and I am fine with how God created the universe and the wonderful intellect he gave mankind that allows us to discover and understand His work. The history of Creation for me is one of it's most fascinating beauties.

I believe what the Bible says about the earth being 6000 old. It doesn’t say anything about the earth being 6000 years old. So I believe I’ll use my God given faculties and observe all the clues He has given us with respect to that.

Oh and I know I’m a sinner in need of a Savior. And there is no multiple choice question on the Heaven entrance exam saying “How old is the earth?” Thank goodness or we’d all flunk unless He grades on a curve.
