Championships. Money. Fame. Competition. Those are the things that drive most quarterbacks. Not Brett Favre though; he's more interested in revenge.

According to a New York Daily News column by Gary Myers, a(nother) Favre return to the NFL would be motivated by his desire to get revenge on the Packers, the team that kicked him to the curb last spring in favor of Aaron Rodgers.

In a way, I'm torn here.

After enduring 4 Super Bowl losses , if it takes an ol' Packer out seeking 'revenge' to get the Vikes over the top.. so be it.

Judging by how he played at the end of last season, the Packers have nothing to worry about.

Revenge for what? They treated him honorably.

Count me as someone who doesn’t want to see Favre tarnish his legacy further. It’s sad to see someone who doesn’t know when to walk away.

Brett wasn’t kicked out - he retired! The Pack gave him lots of time and space, but they needed a decision in order to start their plans for the season. He gave them the decision!

I hope he DOES go with the Vikings. I would love for the Pack to beat them with him at the helm.

Farve did almost take a below average team to the playoffs. May not have been a great year for Farve, but Farve can still play.

the packers did not kick him to the curb. he flirted with retirement for 3 straight seasons and finally the GM said, "ENOUGH! we have to move on!"

favre's ego did this. pure and simple.

Ditto that!

Again, we may be forgetting that Brett may not be that bright.

And yes, the Packers could not take him back a 3rd time after the 2008 Draft, they’d look like doormats. Love the guy, but still.

I used to respect the guy. Maybe he has a lot of gambling debts or something.

I think Madden retired simply because he wasn’t going to be able to say, “BRETFAAAHRVE” anymore.

This article, among others, is what other people say about Favre. Maybe thay're the ones with an ax to grind?
I'll withold my comments until after I see what Favre himself has to say about it all.

What a shallow individual is Brett Favre. With the money he has made and the great career he formed, it is inconceivable to me that he has nothing more important in his life than football...sad.

There is nothing wrong with hiring a gunslinger to clean up.

Brett wanting to take revenge on the Packers just looks bad all the way around.

His feud is with Ted Thompson, not Green Bay. If he's upset than get him get into a pick-up game with Ted.

Doggone Brett, play because you love the game, not because you're holding a grudge.

Good grief!

Isn’t it time for Brett Favre to fade away? It seems to me that he had a long and successful career and was treated pretty well by management and media. Revenge? For what, for getting older, for playing past his athletic prime? Come on, Brett Favre, there is life after football, provided you have anything at all to bring to the table. :)

Yes, but he bottomed out down the stretch. The season's very long, and it isn't clear that he can still play sixteen games.

Then there's the matter of the torn biceps. The Jets doctors told him that he could play in 2009 - provided he had surgery at the end of the season. If he had the operation then, he'd be ready to go by training camp. To have the surgery now? No way he starts the first several games.

I don't think that's fair at all.

It must be hard to walk away from the one thing you've spent your entire life working towards. I don't begrudge him the second thoughts and regrets, even though I doubt he can still carry a team.

Plenty of other great men have had a hard time letting their dreams die. They weren't shallow either.
