What a beautiful day the Lord has made! What a wonderful gathering of Freepers. The best people I know are Freepers ... and it regaled my soul to share a picnic with some of the best. Some drove from as far away as two and a half hours, others from within twenty minutes, but we had a great get together and even got to see Tea Party signs from Wednesday!
To those pinged to the original thread (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2198470/posts): we missed those who couldn't make it ... and there was plenty of food! [Poor New Jersey Bob missed some really tasty BBQ with goooood sauces, and a delectible sandwich ring made with egg bread!] Maybe next time, Friends. We even had entertainment ... well, sort of, if you consider two too liberal 'obamouses' in a pavillion full of conservative cats 'entertainment'. Yes, we had two Obamanoids there! I must confess I invited them because they're relatives who live in KNoxoville and were going to be in the area so I felt they could be sacrificed for Freeper practice.
Bert will be along soon to post a few pix from the event.
your the man~ wish I had known about FR when I lived in East Tenn.. oh, guess it didn’t exist then~
lol (early 90s)
I didn’t know any of the folks. We had been FRmailing each other in planning for the picnic. We had a beautiful day and lots of fun. It doesn’t take long to get acquainted with Freepers, does it? I think we are all alike all over this country! LOL!
Glad you saw the pics, Dolly!
Too bad you couldn’t have been there! Like I say, if Dolly is around, there’s a party!
Where is your son located? ... We would have loved to have had you with us! Should we add you to the ping list for the next picnic plans? ... Ohio is a bit far away, but if you have relatives closer, we want you to join us!
Jeff is in Winston Salem NC
but Jaycee & I have talked about a get together. I went to grad school in Johnson City & just love E Tennessee.. great people & great weather go with the lovely topography!
I got my Masters at ETSU ...
When you’re going to visit your son, contact jaycee and we can get a luncheon meeting going at a local restaurant as you travel through the area ... or maybe even a picnic!
Thought you’d like to know, I have two granddaughters graduating the first week of May. Ashley will graduate from ETSU May 2 and Nikki will graduate from King College May 7. Those dates could be opposite. My brother graduated from King College many years ago.
Nikki is already doing her student teaching (3rd grade) she loves and adores children. Ashley studied Radiology and besides her graduation, we will attend a ‘pinning ceremony’ at the Meadowview Center sometimes during the first or second week of May. So we have a busy schedule coming up! And yes, I am very proud of them.
Fine report! Sorry we could not make it.
We definitely missed you folks.
Great Pics...... and to think you were worried about your looks...... you both looked absolutely fabulous
You’re a nice fellow bert!! Thanks.
