I’ve seen those, but they seem to be related to memory problems (perhaps you’ve got too many programs open or you do need more memory) — or — sometimes I’ve noticed a hard drive not having enough available space on it will cause that to happen. So, make sure you leave empty space on your hard drive and don’t run it down to 300 MB left on the hard drive... LOL..

When I’ve addressed those two problems, I don’t get that little spinning wheel.

You said — I use Macs. I like Macs. They are fine machines. But why are Mac devotees so insecure that they are constantly seeking affirmation of their superiority? It’s a machine people; a tool. It doesn’t define you. Get over yourselves.

Are you kidding... it’s more than a machine... if you get a Windows PC — *that* is a “machine”...

A Mac is a computer that does what you want it to... can’t say enough good about it... LOL..

Yeah, we have Dells in the lab hooked up to the sequencers. They're just part of the machines we have to use. But everything else (especially anything fun and creative) is done on Macs.

Stick around awhile. Mac threads are rife with macho men claiming that Mac users are both homosexuals and Liberals ... and the PCs are the best thing around. Macs are "toys".

I've owned Macs for over 20 years. It's an endless drone. I'm shocked that you've never noticed it actually.

I’ve owned Macs for 23 years now, continuously...

And yes, I’ve noticed the anti-Mac views of PC-users... LOL...

Yup..I have a PC that is soon to be replaced by an iMac..a big one for photo work. I have a MacBook Pro 17” wide screen for photo work now and a MacBook to download and back up my photos when I am on a trip..Just got back from Iceland today and shot tons of photos..and my little MacBook was perfect for such a trip.
One hint for you folks who take trips and like to take your computer and camera gear..trim it down. The airlines are taking a real hard line on carry on..stuff is taken as you board and tagged..if it is sensitive equipment you are taking take only what you really need. I had to pull my computer out of the bag as there was no more overhead room..Flying is getting more miserable every trip.

From the above:

This newfound success has been evolving for some time. One team manager interviewed for this article said that his programmers started switching from Dells and ThinkPads at least three years ago. Now 80 percent of his group uses Apple laptops.

If you'd quoted a little farther into the article, you'd have included this:

The explosion of interest in smartphones is helping the trend. The Miami-based Weaver says the fact that he's using a Mac made it simple to start experimenting with the iPhone development kit, available only on the Mac.

Pro Engineer still isn't available for MAC.

I’m not cool enough to be a Mac person.

I'm not insecure enough to need to be a MAC person. Plus I have work to do. ; )

I suppose I'd have to click over to Parallels, then, if I needed Pro Engineer.

In that case, I guess you'd have to run a "loathsome" PC OS to get any work done.

these professionals have never made a dime writing software for the mac.

You're right. Those damn Apple people want to keep all their swag to themselves... /sarcasm

iPhone Developers Go From Rags to Riches

The iPhone is a revolutionary handset. But it is also the key to a virtual gold mine -- the iTunes App Store, where independent developers can become multimillionaires in just a year.

Since its launch in July, the App Store has grown to become an indie developer's dream come true. Steve Demeter, developer of the vastly popular $5 iPhone game Trism, announced he made $250,000 in profit in just two months. His team? Himself, mainly, with a little bit of help from a friend and a contracted designer (whom he paid $500). If his profits continue at this rate, Demeter will earn nearly $2 million by July 2009...

the mac is a desktop/laptop w/ an OS (since they force you to put it on the proprietary hardware)

the iphone is an embedded platform. software for the iphone can be created on any OS/platform that supports the emulator and tools. (like Windows, linux, etc)

what is really funny is how the indy developers have no problem writing software that can ONLY be sold to customers through Apple for a fee which goes directly to Apple. not to mention, they don’t seem to mind doing the work for free... stocking the iphone app shelves... strictly on the promise of getting a percentage of the purchase price.

just imagine the outcry if BGates decided to decree that all software to be run on a Windows box MUST be bought AND sold through Microsoft. too funny.

"They" don't force you to put it anywhere, sten. You are free to not buy a Mac and buy a Windows or Linux computer instead.
