A 17-year-old boy was struck and killed by a vehicle while apparently tagging the center divider on the 60 Freeway near Hall Avenue early Saturday.
Blake Locko, 17, of Riverside, was struck in the carpool lane about 2:15 a.m. and thrown across the 5-foot-high center divider into the eastbound carpool lane, where he was struck by several vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol....
The driver who first struck Locko was not expected to be cited in the death.

Dude.. I remember being that young and keeping my parents awake long into the night. I understand now. I have kids of my own.
You can tell that the author of this article has never had his personal property vandalized; otherwise, he wouldn’t refer to crime in such euphemistic terms like “tagging”.
Some of the other primates only have to pee to mark their territories. But maybe they are more advanced than this guy.
The state for not installing safety net,car company for not installins bumper air bags, government for not funding state....
Taggers everywhere will converge on the resulting red smear to memorialize their fallen comrade in multicolored hues of aerosol art work.
Even more gruesome film at 11....
Same here...Apalling, stupid things like setting up a beach umbrella and lawn chairs in the runway threshold at a military airbase and sipping tonic with friends so we could admire the planes. The beach umbrella kept blowing away and police came.
So I muted my first impulsive comment about the tagger, and just shut up.
Lol, I was a military brat too, and there seems to be far more opportunity to do really outrageous stuff on a military base.
My lips are sealed.
What a load of excuse-laden rubbish.
There are plenty of vandals with no physical problems whatsoever.
The City of Pittsburgh dropped a legal bomb on a couple of these punks. Needless to say the taggers and their parents were shocked at the severity of the sentences but everyone else was over the moon. Let’s hope it sends a message.
What gives him the right to use public property as his 'canvas'? His 'personal demons' are no excuse. Good riddance.
Good post.
This sounds like a Woody Allen joke or something.
Good. The death of a property defacer is a good thing. It is unfortunate that he will ever get to be President
“Tagger” sounds so sweet and innocent, though.
I grew up in southern CA and saw "tagging a lot". I always likened it to a dog pissing on a fire hydrant to mark his territory.
Someone is going to have to explain tagging to me.
It’s a euphenism for spray-paint graffiti, trying to make them sound like it’s art of some sort. The way someone who does graffiti paints his name at the end of his work (like an artist would sign their painting) is referred to as his ‘tag’, hence the term ‘tagging’. Granted, occasionally people who are really good at it are paid to do installations on canvases, or hired to paint a mural on someone’s building, or tag a West Side Story set so it looks more authentic than it would if all the nerdy kids who built the set attempted to do it themselves, but by and large, ‘tagging’= vandalism.
Thanks, I got the impression that they were spray painting cars as they passed on the road.
It's the destructive 'marking' of boundaries for a certain group of punks. I used to help paint it out for the City of LA (Volunteer group)on many occasions. Taggers are relentless in their pursuit of nothingness. They are vandals.
Where were the parents of this teen at 2am?
